Without Neruda's intrusion, Mario might never know what "metaphor" is, what is "poetry", and perhaps would never have written a line of verse. But this does not mean that poetry is meaningless. Poetry is certainly written by poets, but those beautiful people, beautiful things, and beautiful places are where the poetry really originates. Are these beautiful and moving poems? Poems do not belong to those who write them, but to those who need them.
