      Variation Graduate

To be honest, I was a little disappointed after reading it compared to the original introduction.
However, from the faint hippie flavor, I feel that this is not the fault of the movie. Maybe the 1970s and my life are too far apart. So I can not fully integrate into the film, especially the rhythm of its editing.
In fact, when I watch it, I think about "graduates" the most, but it doesn't have the explosion of graduates, because the film has always been rebellious. Unlike the strong...

Transferred from [Annie Baby] <Harold and Maud>

It was after reading what Baby Anne wrote about Harold and Maud that I went to see this movie.

      Text/Baby Anne

sat on the straw mat in the living room, facing the afternoon sun, and played a disc given by a friend. A film in the 1970s that belongs to the category of cult (faith, ritual). When he handed the disc in a hard case, he said it was about a suicidal teenager and an 80-year-old woman in love. A man and woman of different ages met at a funeral. He thinks it's a...

      Vitality emerging from heavy topics

(The teacher came over after the appreciation class and pretended to be very good) One of the classic cult movies, it is said that it is a movie that many people like the more they watch. The most interesting thing is actually the setting of teenagers. The teenager who is obsessed with death and the survivor of the concentration camp, Maud (living in the train and tattooed on his arms), everyone discusses different perceptions of love between old and young, but I think it is very romantic....

Be me if you want to be me.

Then we turned off the TV, and
in our dark bedroom, we were ready to go to sleep.
But I couldn't help it and
      asked him, "
Do you think there is love between the two of you?"
Thom said I don't think so,
      she doesn't love him anyway,
and he doesn't know what love is yet.

Later, the two of us discussed in the dark, and
finally reached a consensus that we can both be satisfied and sleep peacefully -
Maude has been in the concentration camp...

      live for love

It's been so long since I've seen such a touching movie. This movie did not move me at all in the beginning. A kid from a rich family tried every means to kill himself to arouse his mother's attention. The scene was bloody and disgusting . For a while I doubted why Amanda would recommend such a movie to me.

Then the other role appeared. This movie started to get interesting when Maude stole a car and Harold chided her. "You should not take away people's things you know." --"While then...

Best black romantic comedy of all time? Hal Ashby tries for something so far-fetched, so absurd and subversive that it will only resonate with a few. Its ambition and aesthetics are reminiscent of Dadaism, while its dandy characters feel like the eccentric successors of Des Esseintes from “A Rebours” by Huysmans (1884). Dark, dead-pan humor along an artistic style & intellectual tone shape its mood - death and simulated suicide constantly hanging over. It never fades into nihilism though....

    Movie plot

20-year-old high society boy Harlow ( Bad Coulter ) is extremely obsessed with death. He likes to pretend to commit suicide to scare his mother. He is keen to attend funerals and even bought a hearse. Mother took it for granted, but she couldn't bear it, so she urged Harlow to get married and mature. At the funeral of others, Harlow met the 79-year-old Mudd (Ruth Gordon) , an old woman with the same hobbies as him, and entered the...

    Movie quotes

    • Mrs. Chasen: Harold, I only have a few minutes, dear, and I want to inform you of my decision. You have led a very carefree, idle, happy life up to the present, the life of a child. But it is time now to put away childish things and take on adult responsibilities. Oh, we'd all like to sail through life with no thought of tomorrow but that cannot be. We have our duties, our obligations, our principles. In short, Harold, I think it is time for you to get married.

    • Maude: What is your name?

      Harold: Harold, Harold Chasen.

Maude: Oh, how do you do? I'm Dame Marjorie Chardin but you may call me Maude.

Harold: How do you do? Nice to meet you.

Maude: Well, thank you. I think we're gonna be great friends. Don't you?

    • Mrs. Chasen: I have here, Harold, the forms sent out by the National Computer Dating Service. They screen out the fat and the ugly, so it is obviously a firm of high standards. First, here is the personality interview, which you are to fill out and return. Now then, are you ready, Harold? Here is the first question. "Are you uncomfortable meeting new people?" Well, I think that's a yes, don't you agree, Harold? "Should sex education be taught outside the home?" Oh, I would say no, wouldn't you, Harold? Yeah, we'll give a D there. Three. "Should women run for president of the United States?" I don't see why not. Absolutely yes. "Do you remember jokes and take pleasure in relating them to others?" Well, you don't do that, do you, Harold? No. Absolutely not. "Do you often get the feeling that perhaps life isn't worth living?" What do you think, Harold? A? B? Oh, we'll put down C - not sure. "Is the subject of sex being overexploited by our mass media?" Well, that would have to be yes, wouldn't it? "Is it difficult for you to accept criticism?" No. We'll mark D. "Do you sometimes have headaches or backaches after a difficult day?" Yes, I do indeed. "Do you go to sleep easily?" I'd say so. "Do you believe in capital punishment for murder?" Oh, yes, I do indeed. "In your opinion, are social affairs usually a waste of time?" Heavens, no! "Can God influence our lives?" Yes, absolutely yes. "Does your personal religion or philosophy include a life after death?" Oh, yes, indeed. That's ab-so-lutely. "Did you enjoy life when you were a child?" Oh, yes, you were a wonderful baby, Harold. "Do you think the sexual revolution has gone too far?" It certainly has. "Do you find the idea of wife-swapping distasteful?" I even find the question distasteful.
