So does the director really want everyone to understand the movie?

The movie as a whole has the feeling of Noh drama, an audio-visual feast.

The images of the housekeeper, the mayor, the adopted son, and the hacker are all very facial expressions. With the prologue and rhythmic drum beats, and then seeing the faces of the characters, I think of Noh masks every minute.

The tone of the film is relatively depressing, and people watching the power politics passed down from generation to generation are very uncomfortable.

      Finally, I don't...

      Canis Island

Few of the characters in the entire movie, villain or decent, are perfect.

Mayor Kobayashi is loved by the public. He is good at controlling people's minds, even trying to be dictatorial and oppressive. The complete image of the ruler is shaped.

Exchange student Tracy, I never thought she was a dog. When I knew Cardamom was her dog, I knew she was wearing a mask. I don't think any dog lover would train his dog to be a show...

      Canis Island

Watching Canis Island is also an accident. I have heard of it, but I haven't seen it in the cinema. I watched it by chance, which is still interesting. If you think of the movie as an American-Japanese hybrid, the proportion of Japanese blood will definitely be above 75%. The art style of the whole movie, the soundtrack, and the temperament of the main characters are all very Japanese-style aesthetics. I think some parts are really borrowed from Japanese traditional literature and...

      freeze-frame satire

It has created a semi-empty world, using dogs as a political means, and achieving political goals through some measures against dogs. The story tells that the dogs were tricked by politicians, infected with the flu, and isolated on an island by the politicians. Then, in order to win the election, the politicians launched a final blow to wipe out all the dogs on the island. And a boy, in order to find his beloved dog, came to Canis Island, thus opening the story of...

I prefer his cartoons to Wes Anderson's films, they're cute. It takes courage to vigorously promote dog culture in a cat-based...

Both stop-motion and Wes are my loves, but still terrified. Such excellent art is built on such a dualistic value core, and the final outcome is terrifying. Even if it is used as a political metaphor, the ruling power is hereditary, and the dog is in the upper position and the cat is imprisoned, which makes people feel a hundred thousand ghosts. And it is still promoting the human-centered arrogant ideology of "a dog's obedience and loyalty are the conditions for becoming a friend of mankind",...

Numerous metaphors, fascism, hegemony of public opinion, brainwashing... It's meaningful in terms of style, but the form is bigger than the content. It is a metaphor for such a huge amount of information, but it is too shallow in the depth of the plot. Whether it's the boy's "forced buying and selling" or the villain's "instant whitewashing", it's just frustrating. The contradictions and conflicts make people feel soft, and the audience can't feel too much warmth and hope. Thoughtful, but only...

    Behind the scenes gags

The inspiration for Wes Anderson's "Canis Island" was Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. The film refers to Kurosawa’s many movies that show crime and corruption in the 1960s, such as "Drunken Angel", "Wild Dog", "Heaven and Hell" and "Bad Man Sweet Dreams", etc., in the film Kobayashi City The long image is created based on Toshiro Mifune, who has starred in many films of Akira Kurosawa.
"Island of Dogs" also draws on Ozu Yasujiro's...

    Evaluation action

"Island of Dogs" is a work full of apocalyptic and apocalyptic atmosphere with the main background of the story set in Japan and the future. It is in perfect co-production with Wes Anderson's grotesque temperament, allowing him to go even further on the path of maverick creation. Far. You can see Anderson's persistence in self and his tribute to the classics everywhere in the film. The film adopts the same chapter structure and time...

    Movie quotes

    • Atari: [to Mayor Kobayashi, in Japanese] You took me in, like a stray dog.

    • Chief: That kid is gonna get us all put to sleep. Euthanized. We won't find the dog, but we will die trying.

Rex: Not a bad way to go.

    • Chief: Rex! King! Duke! Boss! You made it!

      Rex: What happened to you?

      Chief: I took a bath.

      Rex: What, he's got soap?

      Chief: Just a little.

      Rex: You're too fluffy.

      Chief: We played fetch.

      Rex: With a stick?

Chief: With a hunk of rubber radiator tubing.

Rex: And you brought it back to him?

Chief: Yeah. He's a good boy.

Rex: Don't you tell me that! I was the one that tried to make you be loyal to him in the first place!

Chief: Stop, *stop*! This is the rendevous! Where's that trash-tram taking you?

Rex: You think we booked this flight through a travel agent? We were fighting for our lives in a high-velocity trash-processor while you were getting scrubbed and brushed!

      Chief: Jump!

      Rex: Where?

      Chief: Here!

      Rex: When?

      Chief: Now!

      Rex: Why?

      Chief: *What*?
