The originator of prison escape movies?

You must add the label of 1978 to evaluate this film fairly, because "Shawshank's Redemption" is too jewel in the front.
I like this dark but very textured picture, Turkey, Istanbul, full of ancient mystery Elements, the shots of several city glimpses are very fascinating. I
don’t know if this film is the originator of the prison escape film. The truthful depiction of the atrocities in the prison without a bit of cover, and the law is not fair enough, this kind of cruelty makes people...

      Roger Ebert's film review translation

★★★ (Four stars for full score) It is said that the real Billy Hayes was arrested by Turkey in 1970 and imprisoned on charges of trying to smuggle marijuana out of the country. He is guilty. He was initially sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison, but then the Turkish authorities decided to try him on a more serious crime. The new sentence is almost life imprisonment. The young college student in prison will not be released until late middle age, if possible. Hayes escaped from...

Cling to the Hope in a Nightmare

Midnight Express, directed by Alan Parker, was released in 1978, starring Brad Davis. It is based on a true story: a naive American boy William, who suffers a lot from being tortured and beaten in a Turkish prison because of attempting to smuggle several kilos of hashish, ends up with successfully escaping that inferno. As for me, after watching this film I feel that it plays very much like a nightmare in which although the leading character is suffering, he never gives up the hope to survive...

      Midnight Express Movie Review

Almost all great films about prison break are not simply action-packed ticket-sellers that seek to thrill the audience. What makes these films great is the depth they went into to explore the darkest and at the same time, the brightest themes of human society and lives. Corruption,...

(Repost) Americans are the world's high-ranking citizens?

Reposted from Liu Yang's blog http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_4134ba900100guxe.html

"Midnight Express" (Midnight Express) is an old American film, produced by Columbia, USA, released in 1978, and released last year 30th Anniversary Edition. This film fully shows the mentality of some Americans facing the world: Americans are the most noble, others are bastards, and American citizens seem to be the highest-ranking citizens in the world.
This movie is based on real people and real...

My friends watched the movie, and it was forbidden for me to choose gay movies when choosing a movie. Later, the two of them chose to come to this movie and watch it slowly... Oh, I will go, you two are really good. The film is good, ridiculous, powerful, and the hero is like...

The criticism of the judicial system and the excavation of human nature are quite excellent. Except for the dramatic ending at the end, this is a prison break film that is not inferior to Shawshank. Samsung and a...

Fucking awesome! The British uncle picked this DVD, he saw it in the cinema more than 30 years ago. I asked him what MIDNIGHT EXPRESS meant, and he said that MAX said that if you want to escape from prison, you can only rely on MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. MIDNIGHT EXPRESS is a moral, describing the high feeling of drug use. The uncle said he didn't take drugs because of this...

    Evaluation action

"Midnight Express" is a cruel movie whose influence has hardly diminished in decades since its controversial release in the late 1970s. Even in the 1920s, the film is still a divisive and powerful film. The film opens with a series of wonderful and continuous tension scenes. At that time, the unknown actor Brad Davis portrayed the role of Billy with firm physical convictions, especially the unfair descriptions of Turkey, its judicial...

    Movie quotes

    • Jimmy: You're going to eat a lot more fasolia beans, Billy Baby, before you taste - hamburger again. Cause you broke the law, man, and you got caught.

    • Max: There are no straight lawyers in Turkey. All bent. Bent, as happens, occupational necessity. They have special classes in corruption at night school. If you get suspected of honesty, then you get disbarred.

    • Billy Hayes: Where are you stayin'?

      Mr. Hayes: The Hilton.

Billy Hayes: How do you like it? Istanbul?

Mr. Hayes: An interesting place. I tell you the truth I think the food is lousy. The crap they sell in these little restaurants. I had to run to the toilet. You should've seen the toilet. Anyway, I'm not taking any more chances. I'm going to eat at the Hilton, every night, with steak and French fries and lots of ketchup. - - Billy, why did you do it?

      Billy Hayes: Money.

Mr. Hayes: Look, I know you kids smoke that stuff and we drink booze; but, taking it across the border, that's - that's stupid, Billy. That's stupid!

Billy Hayes: I know. Dad - get me out of here.
