The Nordic snow scene recorded by the camera is too beautiful, but beneath the white snow lies the corpse of the dead, a stagnant ideal. Eric, who raised his sickle to resist but was accidentally stoned into a dementia, still only listens to the workshop owner, playing the melodious accordion. It is no longer a happy song, but a knife that longs to cut through the hardships of life. Paley said to Eric very seriously: Dad said that spring is coming, we can leave this ghost place and go out to...

The boy's father and the demented insurgent seem to have nothing to do with each other. In fact, they are in the boy's life, one in the dark and one in the other. Pell the Conqueror did not conquer the world as he said in the beginning of the movie, but he conquered the world. He knows what he wants without hesitation. This decision is like a child's heart will gradually disappear with age, and old people think that their dreams in middle age are too late to realize that the tail of dreams...

The film is based on the novel of the same name by renowned Danish progressive writer Martin Anderson Nixo. Nixor's novel has been hailed as a social epic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Denmark and a colossal mural of the living conditions of the proletariat. Nixor depicts the class awakening of the Danish proletariat in the early 20th century through the upbringing of Pere, the son of a hired laborer, through his complex and tortuous life path and emotional ups and downs. It...

      desperate conqueror

In the vast snowfield, Bell set off alone. Will there be a fire at the end of the journey that has just started, waiting to dispel Bell's exhaustion and give the boy the strength to move on?
Father is old and has no strength to embark on the journey with Bell. This man who had been down for most of his life, rubbed his cloudy eyes, told his son ramble, wrapped the only thick cotton coat around Bell, hugged, and then waved goodbye.
Bell could not have left, the master has appointed him...

A soul that is not conquered is a "conqueror"

      (Sketch on mobile phone, unwritten)

The original Oscar, the 1988 Cannes Palme d'Or, and the 1989 Oscar for the best foreign language film, there are very few films that can compare with it.

      Photography is great.

Half of it is the vastness of northern Europe, and the distant view presents a kind of stark wilderness; half is the approximation of the characters: the little boy Pelle is both a bystander and a witness.

In this "autonomous" farm, the class antagonisms, the...

Witness the ecology and customs of a Danish farm with a boy's short growth history: young men and women die in love and babies; tenant farmers crippled after class conflicts; heroic wives castrate lecherous husbands. At the end, the boy leaves his father and runs away, which is meaningful, and I am afraid that we will never see each other again in this...

This is a universal history of spiritual growth, a hymn or a dirge of the poor who shines with the light of human dignity, I don't know, because only poverty can brew such simple happiness, and only the courage of the poor can make the remote The unattainable dream has become so close, however, only poverty can make people endure the deep suffering of the world in despair, and only the children of the poor can feel so sad for their father's cowardice and old...

The land of northern Europe is desolate, Nu Hai Taotao weeps solitary; the long ice is in fairyland, and there is a boathouse in the clouds and fog. Being in a foreign land is not like a guest, and the homeland of the family is two...

"Pelle the Conqueror" succeeded because it leveraged to a great extent what Nordic films are best at: one is the perspective of children; the other is the display of "survival" images. The director August is a director with a great love. The human touch in the film makes the audience forget the amazing length of 157 minutes (Sohu Entertainment Review)  .
The film has made a certain degree of modification in the plot, removing the...

    • Pelle: [helping his father to remember the name of the prophets] Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiah and Jeremiah!

Lassefar: Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiah and Jeremiah!

    • Pelle: Father?

Lassefar: Can't we just stay here?

      [Pelle nods to say no]

Lassefar: You'll have to go without me, Pelle. I don't have strength to travel anymore. I'm too old. Too old. I don't have a future. Do you understand?

      [Pelle nods positively]

    • [last lines]

Lassefar: When we see each other again, maybe you'll have a home to return to.

Pelle: Say goodbye to Karna for me. Goodbye, father...
