Postman Il: Writing Poetry to Those who Need It Most

The film tells the story of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and his young wife Mathilde, exiled to a small island in southern Italy in 1948. Unemployed youth Mario, the son of a fisherman, doesn't like the sea, and reluctantly takes on the job of delivering mail to the island at the local post office. In reality, he was merely sending a large amount of correspondence to poets. As for the poet Neruda, at first, the young Mario had only read his poem "Ordinary Songs". Mario developed a...

      life affects life

This film is really beautiful, with the spotless sea water in Italy, the starry sky dotted with diamonds, and the barefoot children, but the most beautiful is the influence of the soul on the soul, the poet's sensual soul is poetically pioneering for another simple soul. Inspire. Mario's life was doomed to be different from the fishermen around him the moment Neruda set foot on the pristine Italian soil. He gradually understood what poetry was, and realized that when he paid careful...

The postman encouraged me to keep writing poetry

That was the year the muse came to me,

I don't know where it came from,

from winter? From the river? when and where?

Not the sound, not the words. Not even silent.

But from the streets I walked,

      from the long night,

      from the inspiration of others,

      in the fire

      or on the way back...

She had no content, but touched me.

The Postman is a perfect movie

If we put aside those classic dialogues (which will take time to sort out), and just talk about the essence of the film, it should be poetry. I haven't seen a movie that illustrates so well what poetry is. It is lightly close to the ground, dull and pure, heavy and gorgeous. In other words, it is a beach, a distant mountain, a love, a metaphor. After all, we still can't express it accurately, except by writing a perfect poem, which is not within my power.
A great poet and an extremely...

      a few feelings

Although the male protagonist regards this film as more important than his own life, there is no doubt that he is a little too old for the character.

What really surprised me was that the actor who played Neruda performed very naturally, with a good sense of proportion. Later, I found out that it was the old movie projectionist in Paradise Cinema. It's not easy to interpret two such different characters so well.

The plot is a bit exaggerated. I grew up illiterate, but I...

First, the sound of the waves in the bay, soft; second, the waves, loud; third, the sound of the wind over the cliffs; fourth, the sound of the wind sliding over the bushes; Sixth, the church bells; Seventh, the sky full of stars on the island, I have never felt the sky so beautiful; Eighth, the sound of my son's...

The waves are small; the waves are loud; the wind on the cliffs; the wind through the bushes; my father's sorrowful fishing nets; the mournful bells of the priest of the Church of Our Lady; the starry night sky on the island; the heartbeat of pablito...

The taste shown in the movie is the most primitive and simple literature and art. It makes some seemingly unattainable things instantly civilian, because this is the inherent surging in life, but many people never think about it. The shots of the film are straightforward but not rough, and have a unique flavor, which makes the film have a power that can be engraved, but it never makes people feel that the force is too strong. Its soothing and sentimental are slowly and...

The simple charm of "Il Postino"
"First, the sound of waves in the bay, soft; second, the waves, loud; third, the sound of wind passing over the cliff; fourth, the sound of wind sliding across the bushes; fifth, the sound of dad’s sad fishing nets; Sixth, the church bells; seventh, the star-filled sky on the island, I have never felt the sky so beautiful; eighth, my son’s heartbeat."
This is a gift from Mario to Pablo Neruda. He and the...

    Movie quotes

    • Postmaster: Even the women are interested in politics in Chile.

    • Mario Ruoppolo: I'll only ask him to sign this book. That's all, so when I get paid I'll go to Naples and show all the girls that I'm a friend of Neruda, the poet of love.

Postmaster: The poet of the people.

    • Pablo Neruda: When I was a senator of the republic I went to visit the pampas, a region where it only rains once every fifty years, where life is unimaginably hard. I wanted to meet the people who had voted for me. One day at Lota there was a man who had come up from a coal mine. He was a mask of coal dust and sweat, his face contorted by terrible hardship, his eyes red from the dust. He stretched out his calloused hand and said: "Wherever you go, speak of this torment. Speak of your brother who lives underground in hell." I felt I had to write something to help man in his struggle, to write the poetry of the mistreated. That's how "Canto General" came about. Now my comrades tell me they have managed to get it published secretly in Chile and it's selling like hot cakes. That makes me very happy.
