To be honest, I didn't understand

There are a lot of bloody scenes and torture scenes throughout the whole story. I'm not a Christian, so I can only say that I didn't understand it. My buddy watched it from the beginning to the end and used a roll of toilet paper. I didn't shed a single tear, but Later I found out that he was forgiving and used forgiveness to change the trajectory of the world. Perhaps this is due to the cultural differences between the East and the West. But there is one thing I don't understand, who is the guy who appeared with the gloomy face holding the child? It seems that many conspiracies are made by him behind the scenes? If anyone knows, let me know, thank you.
