Wesley Dooley (Paos Booth) is the FBI agent responsible for investigating the infamous Texas killer "Hand of God". When a person who claims to know the true face of this serial killer walks into his office, he can't help but doubt its authenticity. This man named Fenton Mex (Matthew McConaughey) claimed that the killer was his brother, Adam, who committed suicide after killing all these people. But this is only a small part of Adam's long and complicated story, and Meeks hopes to know everything with Dooley so that he can understand his brother's real motive for the murder. The past and the present blended between these two strangers. After coming to the rose garden where Adam was buried, Meeks began his story.
This is the 1979 Mex brothers, 12-year-old Fenton (Matthew O'Leary) and 9-year-old Adam (Jeremy Sapt) and their father (Bill Paxton) enjoying the leisure country lifestyle. Their father is a kind and sensitive man. He is waiting for himself to slowly recover from the shock of losing his wife. The children are very happy and safe here until an unexpected event changes their lives, forever. One day, the father announced to the children that he was entrusted by the visiting angels to complete a sacred mission. God chose him and his sons to destroy the "demons" disguised as ordinary men and women. The angel will provide a list, and the Mex family must find these "demons" and kill them.
Adam believed it was true at the time and was very enthusiastic about it, and claimed to share the "God's justice" that his father had imagined, while Fenton was afraid and worried about his father's mental state. On the one hand, love for the family, on the other hand, the belief that this evil plan must be resisted, Fenton struggled with his inner demons to find a solution.
This terrible violence shattered the brothers' childhood and left an indelible mark on their future. Deeply affected by these unusual experiences, Fenton and Adam have their own extreme concepts of good and evil, and were led into that unforeseen fate...
