But the question is, can you make up for what, and for whom you are doing it, maybe you haven't figured it out clearly. This film gives the answer through a science fiction theme, that is: the past cannot be compensated, you are only for yourself.
There was no way to make up for the past. Roda thought that cleaning the room for the professor would make him happy, but in the end he still couldn't get the professor out of the shadow of life. Roda thought that by giving the ticket to the professor, he would be able to reunite with his dead wife and children, but in the end it proved to be in vain.
So is Roda wrong? Yes, she was wrong. She thought it was atoning for her sins, but in fact it was just to make herself feel better. She thought it was helping others, and finally proved that she was just liberating herself. When Roda of Earth 2 appeared before him, everything failed desperately. The professor did not find anyone to return home, nor did Roda make atonement, everything went back to zero.
Don't beautify yourself through atonement, the past is irreparable. All we can do is to face tomorrow bravely.
