Viewing experience: a story that has an ending but doesn't know how to begin

This is my favorite Wes Anderson so far!
It has been a long time since I saw this kind of film that silently touched me. The whole film exudes a strange dreamy feeling. Although it is a comedy, the meaning of life contained in it has given me some redemption for being stuck at this stage. , so this movie means a lot to me.
A few years ago, "Welcome to the Grand Budapest Hotel" blew a little dazzling wind, and let more people know this director who maintained his unique style. Of course, I also love that movie very much. I have watched it several times, but I have never been touched like this film; maybe there will be a film in different stages of my life that can bring inspiration or redemption to me at that time, and what I need now is It is the purpose of Darjeeling Limited.

In this film, you can still see Wes Anderson's unique "center line addiction", but in this film, such a centering rule is not so eye-catching. It is more like such a rule deliberately to match the three protagonists .
At the beginning of the film, Bill Murray is rushing to a certain place - the station, at this time to bring out the main scene and main theme of the whole film.
A long life is like a train heading for a certain destination. This train will carry all kinds of passengers. Some passengers will get off in the middle, and some passengers will stay on this train unknowingly. ; And there are times in life when we rush to the destination in a clumsy manner, and there are times when we stop somewhere with an unknown mood, waiting for the time to start again; but the train has a timetable, It will start and leave the platform on time, and you may be on the platform waiting for the train to leave, or you may have to jump on the train before it goes full speed, and then you must consider whether it is time to throw your bags and catch the train.

As always, I really liked Wes Anderson's imagery, whether it's the playful camera movement, the midline fetish, or the bold use of color, and this time I was particularly fond of the story itself.

It feels like Bill Murray's opening scene, it's the film's main axis, it's even our lives: chasing after something, but we don't know where they're going.
At the invitation of their brother Francis, the three brothers started a journey of spiritual exploration. On the surface, they seem to be brothers, but the relationship between the three is not even as good as friends. They not only dislike each other's actions, but also distrust each other. .
The style of the whole film is very similar to the feeling of India: mysterious and beautiful, three people and three small groups have started a small trip in India.

What I especially liked was about the "belt", the one that was Francis's and then Peter's.
In this film, the belt gave me two ideas, representing both family blood and bondage.
The three brothers can often be heard complaining to each other. The two younger brothers can't stand the elder brother always deciding things for them, and the elder brother can't stand the entanglement of the younger brother taking possession of the father's things without permission and breaking up with his ex-girlfriend, but no matter how you look at it. They are not used to each other. They are always brothers. When encountering disasters, the ties of blood are so close that people can let go of everything and move in the same direction together; but blood sometimes becomes a bondage. The trip was actually a trip to find their mother, because the mother did not participate in the father's funeral, which created a resentment in the hearts of the three brothers that could not be spit out or swallowed. This trip was to seek an answer and a redemption from the mother.

Until they finally saw their mother, all the burdens were finally put down. On the way back, in order to catch the train that was gradually leaving the platform, they dropped all the suitcases with their father's name engraved on them. The burdens buried in the hearts of the three brothers over the years were gone. If it is resolved smoothly, the train will continue to run and the journey will continue. In the next journey, there will be many more luggages. Which ones should be kept and which ones should be lost. When the time comes, we will know.
And what about that belt? It cannot be lost.
In the long life, we will definitely accumulate a lot of luggage. If you don’t like it, you can throw it away on the way. However, blood is innate. Even if you hate it, you must live with it. If your pants are loose, you can fasten them with belts. There are many questions. The family can give the most appropriate help, and that custom belt will be handed down in the Whitman family forever.

In particular, I want to say that Bill Murray's performance in this film is very short but very deep.
Maybe this is his charm. A few simple expressions made me remember him for a long time, and I always hoped that he could catch that train.
Near the end of the film, there is a section that shows you the passengers who took the same train with the three brothers. Maybe these people will write the stories for the three brothers later.
"I'm writing a new story.
I've written the ending, but I don't know how to start."
The passengers on that train seemed destined to take this train. Everything in life is probably also a kind of destiny. The people we meet will eventually meet, and the ones we should miss will never be together, just like Bill Murray; sometimes we try to catch up with a car, a person, but fate may not want to let us Easy to get on that train, so let's miss it, but if it is destined to meet, then one day that train will stop like a miracle at some platform waiting for us to get on: maybe the one we are chasing, All you are waiting for is the time.
I think our ending has probably already been written, and what we need to do is to fill in the story with more and more details, and create as many wonderful and gorgeous plots as possible in this "fated" , so how the story begins is no longer the point, and even if there is no good beginning, there are at least many details worth revisiting.

"No matter what happens in the end, I don't want to lose you as a friend." She said
he looked her in the eyes. "I promise I'll never be your friend, no matter what, never."
"I love you and I never meant to hurt you," she said
and he nodded. "It doesn't matter."

The fated three brothers will never be friends,
because they must be family.

D / This time, the plot is so loose and rigid that even the soundtrack is a bit embarrassing, and the whole movie watching is full of "what's the matter with me".

    Jack: What's gaslighting?

  • Jack: Which direction did your's go?

    Francis: What do you mean?

Jack: Your feathers... mine blew toward the mountains

Francis: That's not right. It's not suppose to get blown away. You're suppose to blow on it then bury it.

Peter: I didn't get that. I still have mine.

Francis: You guys didn't do it right. I asked if you read the instructions. You did it wrong... I tried my hardest. I don't know what to do.

Peter: I don't think Dad would've hated it.
