God and the CIA

It took 4 hours to finish watching this movie, including visiting and lunch. This is not 007, nor is it a disc on disc, this is a biopic with religious implications.
The title of the film is The Good Shepherd. According to the Bible, Jesus calls himself Good Shepherd the shepherd.
The religious meaning also lies in the Skull and Bones. The rules are first, and God is second.
Is man sure to conquer the sky? or God fucking the people.
I personally think that the male protagonist knew that his son had leaked the secret from the moment he saw the photo. The director interspersed with his narrative, and at the end of the talk, in that cabin, the first gift Edward gave to his son was on the bedside. The reason why he asked his men to track down was to find the location and confirm the identity of the female spy.
It was confirmed that the son was with the Soviet spy. This was the most uncomfortable moment for Edward. First of all, Cuba is the backyard of the United States and has always been the center of security for the United States. However, the most important subversive action by the Americans in Cuba has failed. The reason for the failure was that the young Edward revealed the secret to the Soviet female spy on the bed.
Secondly, Edward did not fulfill his responsibilities as a father during World War II, and he has always felt guilty. Want to protect this "son".
Again, his personal experience, the huge psychological shadow brought by his father's suicide. He wants to protect his son.
...
Speaking of this "son", except for his name is Little Edward, he is not at all like the actor Edward himself. Combining the heroine Judy's interpretation and the director's hint-personal guess that this son is not his. It may even be born to the heroine and her brother. The brother and sister are more deformed, and the brother and Edward are both members of the Skull and Bones. It is possible that Edward, a silent and loyal person, was chosen early in the morning, and it is no coincidence that he was sent abroad. In fact, Judy had already said when she seduce him in the wild, she wanted to find a husband, and be careful not to be a lover. She already knew that she was pregnant and needed a nominal father for the child to hide the real father of the child.
Edward said during the only outbreak in the film, "The reason why I married you is because of this son"-this is really a loyal person. He has always loved his ex-girlfriend Laura, but his sense of responsibility forced him to and Laura broke up. After he roared this sentence, it seemed that the subtext was also saying that he knew that this son was not his own.
In the face of love and family affection, he chose responsibility.
This responsibility has religious implications. Although I don’t know about the Skull and Bones, it’s been said that there is such a secret organization in the United States. The white elite of China holds the highest political, economic and military power of the world’s only superpower. And there is no denying that they do have their own beliefs—at least they tend to follow this belief.
Edward is one of them. He paid the price of a prison-like silence of humanity.
When he finally read his father's suicide note, his father's suicide note about human nature and his last words about loyalty, there was a sharp contrast with Edward's own love, numbness and cold killing of two female spies, defense of faith, and loyalty to the motherland. Aftertaste.

Pure personal opinion.

Lao Dezi’s director works are a bit of a real adaptation, but the amount of information is too large and the clues are too cumbersome. It is a problem. If it weren’t for history, students probably wouldn’t like it.

I watched it three times, and I finished it with great effort today. It's so boring. Matt, do you have to do that.

The Good Shepherd quotes

  • Joseph Palmi: Let me ask you something... we Italians, we got our families, and we got the church; the Irish, they have the homeland, Jews their tradition; even the niggers, they got their music. What about you people, Mr. Wilson, what do you have?

Edward Wilson: The United States of America. The rest of you are just visiting.

  • [Richard Hayes and Ed Wilson walking into the new CIA building]

Richard Hayes: The President's asked me to become director and do a complete housecleaning at my discretion. I need someone I can trust. After all, we're still brothers. This building doesn't get built without you. You're CIA's heart and soul. Who knows, you might have a secret about me in that safe of yours.

    [pointing down the hall]

Richard Hayes: This whole wing will be your part of the world: Counterintelligence. Take a look around. I've got an oversight meeting. Can you imagine? They think they can look into our closet, as if we'd let them.

[Hayes Starts to walk away, stops and begins talking as he turns]

Richard Hayes: I remember a senator once asked me. When we talk about "CIA" why we never use the word "the" in front of it. And I asked him, do you put the word "the" in front of "God"?
