The Insider (Switchblade)

At first I wanted to give 4 stars, but after thinking about it, I decided to give 5 stars.
From the first shot, I was attracted. In the mental hospital, a madman dragged a stool to another person and started talking about it. On the other side, a female student wanted to interview a murderer, and the shot went back to the ward. , Asked Karl to come out, it turned out to be the quiet man who was sitting, not the lunatic.
Sometimes the mentally handicapped world has its own splendor. To put it bluntly, Karl is like an angel falling from the earth. He doesn't know how to punish the sins in the world. All he knows is to kill him. He knows that he will go to hell. , As the saying goes, if I don’t go to hell, who goes to hell.
Self-directed and self-acted, really amazing, although I guessed that Karl killed the bastard at the end, I really hope that the story will not end like this. Is there any way to make Karl happy to live with the little boy’s family? Good ending, a woman, an innocent child, a gay man, a lunatic, and a man who is more normal in the eyes of the world, but a nasty bastard. Is this also what the director wants to represent.
Good film, 5 stars undoubtedly.

2015.11.12 The rhythm is very comfortable, the kind of tranquility and serenity just makes the audience gradually, gradually, moved by the friendship between Karl and Frank, and the scene where they say goodbye by the pond is heartbreaking. Thornton is great.

There are too many long shots, two hours have passed.

Sling Blade quotes

  • Karl: I don't reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy. You been real square-dealin' with me. The Bible says two men ought not lay together. But I don't reckon the Good Lord would send anybody like you to Hades. That Frank, he lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in. You take good care of that boy.

    [walks off]

    Vaughan Cunningham: I will. Karl?

  • Karl: I reckon I'm gonna have to get used to looking at pretty people.

Dr. Jerry Woolridge: Yes you will.

Karl: 'Reckon I'm gonna have to get used to them looking at me.
