Notes on "Ink Heart"

"Ink Heart" is produced by NewLine Cinema, directed by Iain Softley, Brendan Fraser, Paul Bettany and Yi A magical movie starring Eliza Bennett.

In a short 106-minute film, there are 8 main characters and 23 minor characters. The whole story is complete and rich in scenarios. Although many people criticize that the connection of the plot is not close enough, the performance of the main characters in the film tends to be flat and the personality is not clear enough, but I think that as a general entertainment film, many places are still remarkable.

The bravery and fragility of Dustfinger. Grey Fingers are not afraid of fire, and play with fire in the amusement park freely. He is deeply admired by his wife Roxanne. The film depicts scenes of gray fingers playing with fire in many places. And his cowardice is entirely due to his attachment to his wife, and his escape is his consideration of his family. He is an entertainer who plays with fire, so why do he need to be a hero. When he knows the end of the story, he may die, or return to the lover in the book without hesitation. It should be a rare courage. Paul Bettany's performance itself is very good, limited photogenic time, but a good interpretation of the character's personality. Especially in helping Mo's wife Resa to escape, but abandoning her at a critical time, it further illustrates the insignificance of Dustfinger's personality, which is also in line with the original intention of the book.

The image of Silver Tongue (Mo) is vividly interpreted by Brendan Fraser. Mo made a mistake without knowing that he had a power, which caused his wife Resa to be attracted to the book. In the next 9 years, Mo has been under pressure alone, and with his young Meggie, he has never stopped looking for his wife. Generally speaking, Mo's role is not very heavy. As long as he has those big eyes and reading style, he can complete the tasks in the play. As an elf image with supernatural powers, he is still very competent.

Eliza Bennett's Maggie (Maggie) is quick-thinking, intelligent and cute. In the play, she was specially asked to put on a princess costume in the final plot, so that although Maggie seemed to be a commoner, she was a princess. The little feelings between Maggie and the boy Farid in the play also add a relaxed element to the end of the play. Rafi Gavron, the boy who plays Farid, is more of a steal in the scene, and his handsome smile is like a child star.

Let's talk about the old people in the play. Aunt Elinor's Helen Mirren (Helen Mirren) and writer Fenoglio's Jim Broadbent (Jim Broadbent): Both should be heavyweight actors. Whether it is Helen's experience in history, fairy tales, comedy, or Jim's rich experience in magical dramas, the aunt Elinor and writer Fenoglio in the play are brought to life. The roles of the two are unparalleled, and they appropriately set the stage for the protagonist. The important books in the play, "The Wizard of Oz" and "Ink Heart" are from aunts and writers, respectively, and praise the old people's accumulation of experience and the good intentions of educating future generations.

It is worth mentioning that the director of the film Ian Softley. Ian didn't make many films. But Ian, who was born in London and has a rich literary background, must have a considerable understanding of the old British books and magical plots. Given his background at the BBC, making a commercial magical story should be effortless. The film adopts the performance techniques of stage drama in many places, coupled with the real Italian beauty, so that the film appears beautifully in many places. Although there are not many special effects, he has already shown considerable skill in stage matching and shooting. This also highlights the historical origin of Britain as a home of drama.

In addition, the English of Maggie and Aunt Elinor in the play is quite authentic English, which is worth imitating.

MV GSC 4:10PM 01/02/2009. I went to a movie again half asleep and half awake. I don't know what to say. I always confuse bedtime stories with this movie. Nothing special to feel. Hey.

Why does the male lead always act in such a similar movie without a breakthrough?
