A 19-year-old young man Malik (Tahar Rahim) was sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in criminal activities. In prison, he was quickly arrested by the leader of the Corsican gang, the leader of the prisoner’s largest force, Luciani (Niels Arestrup). Note that the latter forced Malik to assassinate an Arab prisoner. Malik completed the task and was protected by the Luciani gang during his prison career, but the Corsican still laughed at his stupid Arab descent, while the Arab said He is a running dog of the Corsican. One year later, some Corsican prisoners were transferred from the prison. Luciani's power was greatly reduced. Malik who had learned Corsican was regarded as his eyes and ears. At the same time, Malik was studying foreign languages in the prison school continuously. Three years later, Malik was released on parole with the help of Lucia and was given the opportunity to go out to work during the day. While helping Luciani with his work, Malik used the connections he gained in prison to get involved in the cannabis business and made a lot of money. He got close to the Arab gang in the prison and eventually broke free of Luciani's control. The little brother drove three cars and followed.
"If no one is covered, do you think you can live out of jail?"
Holding a blade in your mouth is a skill.
How important it is to learn a few more foreign languages, it is Malik's observing power and proficiency in three languages that enable him to successfully deal with the various gangs and cultivate his own power.
Even if the French gang boss is like a fish in the prison, even the warden can only bow his head.
The two-and-a-half-hour film is too long and not very exciting. It is more like a documentary.
The film won the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Jury Grand Prix and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010.
