This is destined to be a film of mixed reputation.

What sin is unforgivable?

After watching this highly stylized author movie, I didn't have a clear answer in my mind. This may be the theme that the director wants to elaborate in his work, but I am not too interested in speculating the so-called deep meaning in the complex and abstract metaphorical plot. It seems that the Danish director is still a long way from David Lynch. Throughout the viewing process, I only felt that my eyes experienced a colorful and wonderful feast: the color tone, lighting and angle of photography were almost to the extreme, and many of the pictures were as beautiful as being in the exhibition site of a photographer's work. I confess that Thailand has never seen such an ambiguous scene in the movies I have seen. This is probably the mysterious oriental color in the eyes of Westerners. It is similar to Gaspar Noe's "Escape into the Void" filmed in Japan. wonderful.

But this darling of Cannes is obviously more than a color artisan. Although I haven't watched "Desperate Driving", his early "End of the Road" trilogy and the opera-like violent epic "Bronson" impressed me. This new crime-themed work actually made me smell the black humor of the Coen brothers. From time to time, the sudden violence scenes gave me the illusion of Kitano Takeshi and Johnnie To’s gangster movies. More scenes unexpectedly ooze surrealism. In the end, the subtitles to pay tribute to Mexican director Alejandro Jodorowsky further confirmed the previous hints.

The level of photography is good, but I'm sorry for not being able to force enough stories to watch...

Rating this film has nothing to do with quality, it's purely a standpoint of attitude, one star or five stars is understandable. It's definitely one of the most compelling films I've seen in recent years. The others are Metropolis, Tree of Life, and Road to Wonderland. In fact, I really admire such a director. He is completely personal and stylized. He abandons all elements of the plot, characters or themes, and completely maximizes the charm of imaging.
