"Frutwell Station" tells about the incident in which a black youth was shot and killed by the police at a subway station on January 1, 2009. The film mainly recalls the story of the black man before the accident. A frustrated black guy who had been drug dealers, had been in jail, was often late and was fired, had a girlfriend and a 4-year-old daughter. The film has many details to show the guy’s desire to come back again, such as throwing drugs away. Lost, helping a female customer in the supermarket, caring for a wild dog, mother's concern (also the mother let him take the subway for safety, but accident happened), and the daughter's dependence on him. The film did not accuse the police or race issues. The investigation afterwards only calmly tells the past, so that the audience feels the kind of helplessness of a black person who is incapable, has a previous conviction, and calmly pays attention to the survival of the small person. People think about how to make a person want to change and become a good person, and how society should give them opportunities. It is worth thinking about why we also have the case of a single mother starving to death two little girls. When condemning her, did we think of our own and social responsibilities? Recently, an old Indonesian woman stole a potato and became a defendant. The judge convicted everyone in the audience, including herself. All are torturing the present glamorous society. As long as there is a person who goes astray due to despair in life, this society cannot become a happy, fair and safe society.
Today there are many people who want to change something in the new year. Apart from working hard on their own, please also give me and other people some opportunities.

12 Years to Fruitvale, freedom never came after all. It's like Hoover, MLK & South Central washing all over me again, and it ain't even the whole picture of the life of minorities in America. How I wish I was never there, but I was, seein'&feelin' cleanly as it can be seen or felt

The issue of race is a social phenomenon that exists in every country, and no one can completely isolate or prevent such a small probability event from happening, but its occurrence has alerted some people! ! ! A loss, a gain.

Fruitvale Station quotes

  • Wanda: You guys got plans for the night?

Oscar Grant: Yeah, nothing major, though. Might meet up with the fellas, head out to the city.

Wanda: You guys going "out" out, or...

Oscar Grant: I think we're just gonna be low-key. Catch the fireworks, probably roll around a little bit after that.

    Wanda: Roll around?

Oscar Grant: Yeah, it's gonna be cool, though. Chill. Plus, Phina gotta get up and go to work in the morning anyway.

Wanda: You guys gonna be drinking?

Oscar Grant: Mama, they gonna be drinking. I haven't had a drink since... I can't even remember.

Wanda: Mm. Why don't you take the train out there? That way you guys can drink and hang out and not have to worry about anything.

Oscar Grant: Nah, I feel like getting over there and getting back. Not waiting on no train.

Wanda: No traffic, either. You know? You know it's gonna be crazy, going and coming back.

Oscar Grant: Yeah, we might take it.

Wanda: Don't make me follow you guys to make sure. Remember prom?

    Oscar Grant: Trying to forget.

  • Oscar Grant: Who do you think will win the Super Bowl?

    Cephus: The Steelers.

    Oscar Grant: Steelers?

    Cephus: Yeah, the Steelers.

    Daryl: What?

    Cephus: Yeah.

Daryl: A Raiders fan cheerin' for the Steelers.

Cephus: Yes, a Raiders fan cheerin' for the Steelers. Black uniforms, black players, black coach. Coach even has a black wife. I'm going for the Steelers.

    Daryl: You insane!
