A suspenseful film where psychological description trumps reasoning

The acting skills of the three leading actors are really good, especially branden's arrogance and phillip's cowardice and anxiety are vividly performed. Although it felt very interesting at the beginning, it felt that it would be a competition between criminal masters and reasoning masters, but I watched a paragraph. I feel that the script is not very good. Philip's gaffe made the case full of flaws and the case was cracked instead of providing clues through various details on the scene. Could it be a WWII anti-war movie? A script written for the preaching theme of equality of all beings... But in this small space, the movement of the camera, the foreshadowing of the tense atmosphere, and the sometimes detouring and sometimes red-faced and red-lipped dialogues are really wonderful to watch and quite enjoyable. Four stars.

There are a lot of flaws, especially the weak plot; too much sacrifice for the (not very effective in my opinion) space-time unity. It is conceivable that when I recall this movie again after many years, I will only vaguely remember the neon color at the end. In addition, in Dostoevsky's novels, maybe the ending should be the teacher turning himself in alone?

Crazy scheduling, that was the age of the cumbersome film film! !

Rope quotes

  • Mrs. Wilson: Mr. Cadell got a bad leg in the war for his courage. And you've got your sleeve in the celery, Mr. Phillip.

  • Brandon: There's champagne in the icebox.

Mrs. Wilson: Oh, we're not giving them champagne?

    Brandon: We are.

Mrs. Wilson: Oh, well, it's going to be that kind of party. I'd better doll up a little.
