Martin and Mel who are parting ways

2016 American movie "Silence": I am an atheist, but I am truly in awe of all religions, so I have feelings and do not understand the story of this film, but I am ignorant, I don't make an evaluation. Speaking of the film level, Master Martin's skilled film techniques have almost achieved an invisible effect in this film. Perhaps it is the weight of the plot itself that makes people unable to feel the existence of the creator. This is actually the effect that many directors expect to achieve. It wasn't until the end credits came out that the buzzing sound (not the music) reminded me that it seemed like the entire 161 minutes of the film was completely unsound? , I have to say that the topic is also very clever. It's interesting to me that it seems that Martin Scorsese and Mel Gibson are saying goodbye to each other. Martin did The Last Temptation of Christ and Mel made The Passion of the Christ a few years later. In 2016, it was a good year. They simply used the same actor Andrew Garfield to film "Silence" and "Blood Battle Hacksaw Ridge", which are both religious themes. It can be seen that Andrew worked very hard in both films. Unfortunately, the acting has yet to be honed. But of these four movies, I prefer Mel Gibson's one~

Martin Sr., a self-proclaimed "lost Catholic", dedicated a masterpiece of faith in 2016. Faced with such a situation, God remains silent, and no matter how much moral judgment and rational speculation you and I make, it will be pale and superfluous. Perhaps only by peeling off all the shells of religion can we reach the core of faith. 8.9

3.5. The scenes in Endo’s original work are highly restored, but overall they are still somewhat disappointing. In the second half (from the time Rodriguez was arrested), the rhythm was slow, and the constant torture scenes were unnecessary, and lacked the excavation of the martyr's motivation and the deep display of the social background. Secondly, the theme of truly being together with God by surrendering God on the surface is not expressed deeply enough. God’s silence is rich in meaning, but this film is relatively simple

Silence quotes

  • Ichizo: [his last words] Paraíso!

  • Rodrigues: I feel so tempted. I feel so tempted to despair. I'm afraid. The weight of your silence is terrible. I pray, but I'm lost. Or am I just praying to nothing? Nothing. Because you are not there.
