We must look up at the starry sky and keep our feet on the ground.

I believe that the viewing experience of a medical student is different from that of other people. It is undeniable that when I watched this film, I felt that Patch was a person who was passionate about medicine, very humorous and thoughtful, and often clowns for him, pretends to be an angel, and laughs. This film has the selling points usually found in a successful film. There are still a lot of laughs and romantic love. The protagonist turns from being discriminated against into a very respectable existence. However, I do not fully agree with the point of view of this film.
First, according to the performance of everyone in the play, patch is never going to review after class, behaved badly throughout the day, and then passed the exam with a score of close to the top of the class. Is this possible? Medicine is definitely a subject that can only be mastered by investing a lot of time in memorizing and recitation, unless it is a memorable person, but this aspect is not mentioned in the play, so I think the patch setting should be an ordinary talented person. Perhaps the screenwriter wants to show that because Patch has his own unique understanding of the relationship between doctors and patients, he has the qualities to be a successful doctor, so he can go smoothly in the examination room. We must note that doctor-patient equality is a kind of Concept is the category of medical ethics, while the examination tests basic knowledge and the category of medical skills. It is not because you think that doctors and patients are equal, you can know the mechanism of type 4 hypersensitivity without a teacher. The purpose of the screenwriter may be to highlight the importance of this concept in medical education, and to exaggerate the difference in performance brought about by this concept. However, this approach simply and rudely promotes the importance of the concept, ignoring the importance of the concept. The effort to study conscientiously and down-to-earth.
Second, near the end of the film, I did not see Patch show any abilities other than gagging and playing ugly in treating patients. The most important reason why a doctor is a doctor is because he has medical skills. Patch does not have any medical-related behaviors in the film. Instead, he uses medical equipment as a tool for pleasure, and his behavior is bound to cause damage and pollution to the equipment. How much trust a patient has to give his life to the doctor with confidence. If we are a patient and see a doctor behaving like a patch, would we think that he is a cautious and highly skilled doctor? When watching a movie, Patch’s performance is indeed Coke, but if every doctor in a hospital is like this, it would be noisy and chaotic. I remember that a teacher in the direction of clinical psychology once told us that why the doctor-patient relationship is so bad now? One very important reason is that the authority of doctors has been broken. Now the chief physician will hook up with you as long as he gives the red envelopes, drink and eat. The former chief physicians were rarely seen by patients. Because of this sense of distance, patients feel that the doctor is very authoritative and trust him, unlike the current patients who do not believe in the doctor's medical skills and feel that their incompetence caused the death of their relatives. In my opinion, in this teacher's opinion, the behavior of patch greatly undermines the authority of the doctor. Equality between doctors and patients should not be achieved through doctors playing harlequins and making patients laugh.
Third, in the film, I think that too many responsibilities that should not be borne by doctors are assigned to doctors, which increases the workload of doctors. One of the hallmarks of modern society is the refinement of occupations. For example, when the patient is unwilling to eat, should the doctor be responsible for this problem? I think it should be undertaken by the nursing or the psychology department in the hospital. The doctor should remember the patient's name, and when talking to the patient, he must look at the patient and interact with the patient in an equal manner. I think these are indeed reasonable. But this doesn't mean that the doctor should know everything about the patient and know everything about his life. The future shock mentioned that in modern society, the relationship between people is more limited to a certain aspect, rather than every aspect. This is determined by the inevitable characteristics of modern society such as the increase in personnel mobility. The doctor-patient relationship is also mentioned in the textbook. It has a time limit. This special relationship is only limited to the period of time the doctor treats the patient.
In general, I agree with the theme of this film that the doctor-patient relationship is more equal, but I do not agree with the exaggerated expressions and the hope that the doctor-patient relationship can be improved in the film.

  • Hunter Patch Adams: I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly without complexities or pride. I love you because I know no other way then this. So close that your hand, on my chest, is my hand. So close, that when you close your eyes, I fall asleep.
