This is absolutely a very moving film. When I watched this film, I couldn't help crying, and even have cried for several times. This is a movie about love, about sacrifice, about fighting against disease, and also about the meaning of life. The characters in this film are all very authentic, and they all act very naturally, impressing me greatly. Moreover, the music in this movie is excellent too. Next, I'd like to analyze some of the major characters in this movie .
First, I'd like to talk about Anna. Anna's birth is pathetic from my point of view. She was given birth as a test tube baby only because her sick sister needed her. She has sacrificed a lot to help with her sister's disease treatment . In addition, her parents just don't give her much attention and care her little. To be frankly, I think her parents just take her as kind of tool. At the beginning of the movie, when Anna hired a lawyer to defend her body right, I am in favor of her actually. I don't think she is selfish. After all, she is only a little girl, and her body is not meant to be used as a tool. Given the fact that she has already suffered a lot pains which was far beyond a little girl can bear and her sister couldn't live much longer even with the kidney donated by her,it is unfair for her to be deprived of the right of making a choice about what kind of life she'd like to lead. But at the end of the movie, I get to know about what Anna was actually planning. I just liked her more.
Next, I would talk about Kate. She is also a girl who deservers compassion. She suffered a lot pains but she has also got a lot of cares and attention, from her parents, her sister, her brother, her boyfriend. Her boyfriend's existence may be the best cure for her disease. When her boyfriend has passed away, she was so sad that she smashed all the objects in her room. Actually, I cried at this scene. However, she is a considerate girl. After she got to know that she couldn't live much longer even with the kidney donated by her sister, she chose to give up, so that her family can move forward and her sister could have a better life. She knew that her family has already sacrificed a lot for her, she didn't want to be the burden of her family any more, and I think this is the major reason why she has given up the donation from her sister finally. She is a venerable girl, a good sister and a considerate daughter.
Finally, I'd like to talk about the two girls' mother. There is no doubt that this is a good mother who deeply loves her children, her family. She has given up her career to take care of her sick daughter. When her daughter was ashamed about her appearance, she just cut her blond hair off immediately in order to encourage her. But it is also her love towards Kate that has hindered the whole family from moving forward only because she couldn't accept the fact that she would lose her beloved daughter someday. She loves Kate so much that she even neglects Kate's feeling, Anna's future life and the whole family's sacrifice. Nevertheless, she is still a good mother. At last, she just accepted the fact and let it go. After Kate's death, the whole family has then taken a great change and moving forwards to a better life.
The other characters in this movie are also excellent, like the two daughters' father, the brother, Kate's boyfriend, the lawyer and the judge. They all have their own stories and they are all kind-hearted persons who deserve respect, adding many shining points to this movie.
This is a meaningful movie, it has taught me how to love, how to make sacrifice for the people I love, and most important, this movie has taught me to cherish the life and the family I own now and taught me me the true meaning of life.

My Sister's Keeper quotes

  • Sara Fitzgerald: Oh my God, you're good. You're really good. You know, I've seen your commercials, right? I mean, who hasn't? And I always thought that you were some sort of headline-seeking hack. But you have real talent. You almost had me believing that you cared about Anna.

Campbell Alexander: Funny, I was about to say the same thing to you.

  • Kate Fitzgerald: This is it. I know I'm going to die now. I suppose I've always known that. I just never knew when. And I'm okay with it. Really. I don't mind my disease killing me. But it's killing my family, too.
