The last trace of conscience before the end of humanity

With the recommendation of a famous film critic, I got up on a night that I couldn't sleep to find resources, stayed up for a few hours, and watched this movie that made it more difficult for me to fall asleep. (Of course, I am not hypocritical).
The overall feeling after watching the movie is depression. On this seemingly peaceful earth, there are such a group of people who are in dire straits, but do not see any hope. I don't watch many war films describing Africa. This film is no less than the "Rwanda Hotel" shown to us by the history teacher in the classroom. It gave me shock and discomfort.
The movie is about a small country in West Africa. Under the influence of war, the protagonist Agu’s family had to flee to the jungle and became a guerrilla fighter by accident. The film tells the story of the war from the perspective of a young boy. In the disaster, Agu gradually transformed from an innocent boy into an indifferent warrior. The only difference from his fellow comrades of the same age is that he still has a trace of humanity that has never been wiped out.
When Agu was forced to kill for the first time, his face was full of fear and hesitation, so the commander called another kid named "Yasha" to help Agu kill the prisoners of war. Yasha and Agu were similar in age, but had completely different temperaments. Only indifference and numbness reflected in his eyes, so he did not hesitate when he killed someone. On the contrary, he was very proficient. It is hard to imagine that when a child faces a murder, he will not show fear, but enjoy the process. Agu is killing After getting the prisoner of war, he ran to the side and threw up alone.
Behind the film. After Agu’s little friend Yasha was killed by a bullet, Agu, who had been numb, had given up any hope. He looked helplessly at the sky and shuttled. Looking for bullets in the trenches, I gave up the last bit of trust in the commander and chose to surrender with most of the soldiers.
At the end of the film, when the counselor asked Agu, what are you thinking about now, Agu calmly replied : "I'm thinking about my future." I think this is the only point in the film where hope can be seen. When Agu ran to the sea, he didn't know what his future was. The war brought him not only It is the loss of family members, but also the tempering and growth of the heart. The
director's accusation of war from the perspective of children is much better than the resonance of the audience from the perspective of adults, and it allows people to reflect on the dangers of war.
Besides, as the only star of the film, Idris Elba played a
selfish officer in it, the commander who had the greatest and most direct influence on Agu. Many people don’t know the name, and I don’t know either. Finally, after Baidu took a look, it suddenly became clear that he was Heimdall, the patron saint of the heavens in Thor. Bringing an arrogant, selfish and cruel military officer to life (this word oops), this is also the box office call for this film.
Finally, it is recommended. As for resources, this is everywhere on the Internet.

The problem still lies in the drama. From the perspective of a child, there may be more things, but it is still exile, conscripted, massacred, massacred... When there is no new idea, it is difficult to let people enter the emotions. The original work is actually a fictional novel, which is probably the explanation. But it's okay to just read it as a story, after all, the shooting is still good, Fuyong also personally took the shot.

Beasts of No Nation quotes

  • Preacher: Come and tell him how much we are suffering in here. Come! Everybody come.

Commandant: So, you... You are the big man now, huh? Where will you be going? Huh? Will you surrender to the other NDF camp? No. they will eat you. And what of ECOMOD? Huh? That might be better, but what next? Jail? War crimes? Huh? You think you can just go and do what you want in peace? You will go back to your village and your family will not associate themselves with you. Huh? You will be nothing. You and your uneducated, poor mind, you'll be NOTHING. Nobody will care for you. Huh? Look at you. And you will wake up and you will rise and see the sun rise and see the sun set, and you can just wait all day ALL DAY with thousands of men just like you, waiting for somebody to give you a job. Huh? that's what you want to go and do? You are stupid! You have Nothing! No future! I am your future.

Preacher: [Points gun to Commandant] You fucking die here, sir.

    Commandant: What?

    [Points Gun to Preacher]

Commandant: How are you going to shoot me if you don't have bullets?

    [Agu points gun to Commandant]

Commandant: And you, Agu? You wanna kill Commandant? Hey, Agu, I want you to kill Commandant. Come. Push it.

    Preacher: [Whispers] Do It.

Commandant: Come, Agu, come. Put It here. Here! A-ha! Aha! Wanna Kill Commandant?

Preacher: Do It, Agu. Do It

Commandant: Kill Commandant! You wanna surrender? Huh? You wanna surrender? You wanna surrender?

    Agu: Yes.

Commandant: Hey, Agu. Just get out. Just Remember, when you are all poor and hungry, you'll remember me! You'll remember your commandant. Just go! Just go!

Preacher: Come on. Everybody, let's move!

Commandant: And know that I will be calling for you one day. Go and drink gunpowder tea and playing draughts. No, no, no. You remember me. You remember your Commandant. You're gonna say, Yeah.

    [Points to Agu]

Commandant: Remember, I will call for you again... and you'll come. Remember.

    Agu: Agu

Commandant: Uh-huh. Well, Agu that is what I be calling you then, eh? Leave this one under my charge. I will be training him to be a Warrior. So you can be fighting the army that is killing your father. Is that what you want ?
