Personally, I think the movie is really moving because I resonate with it a lot. I would like to share three parts of the film that resonated with me the most.
- Grandma: I'm Korean, Korea is very similar to China in terms of culture, especially the way people treat their families.
I also have grandparents who are attentive and lovely. Just like when Billi came from America, every time I see my grandma and grandma, they will say that I am too skinny, and they will make me delicious local food, and they will also say "eat more". Also, I was sad every time I left them. My grandparents always said, "I'll see you soon, don't worry." These examples show what my family has in common with Billi's.
- Grandma's illness:
All four of my grandparents are still alive. A few years ago, they were all in good spirits and healthy as young people. But now, some of them are starting to get sick. When I was watching the movie, I was reminded of the situation of my grandparents. So these scenes make me a little sad.
- cultural background:
Billi's background reminds me of myself. Although I am Korean, I have lived for many years in an environment with Western culture. For example, I spent many years in international schools in the United States, Hong Kong, and Singapore. So I think my thinking is similar to that of Westerners, but on the other hand, it is undeniable that I am also Eastern. I love oriental food so much.
In general, I can understand the psychological contradictions that Chinese and Western cultures bring to Billi.
