Collective consciousness and personal value

"Doctor Zhivag" is a history of the fate of intellectuals. It is one of the few novels in the history of Russian literature in the twentieth century that has a broad historical capacity, social life and spiritual life capacity. As a film adapted from the original novel, the focus of this film is more biased towards the love entanglements that the male protagonist Zhivag had in turbulent Russia, but outside the main line of love, I can also see from this microcosm. After seeing the changes in Russian society during that period, seeing the changes in people’s thoughts and lives of all strata of Russian society during the war and social transformation, and seeing the struggles and shocks contained therein, in this article I will only talk about the collective Under the influence of consciousness, the question of how to realize personal value and the transformation of personal consciousness. The collective consciousness I am talking about refers to the abbreviation of the Bolshevik-led social ideology in Russia from the First World War to the Great Purge. When it comes to Bolshevism, what comes to mind is probably collectivism, opposition to despotism, the people being the masters of the country, and the early absolute egalitarianism. In the context of the consciousness of a socialist country like ours, most of the ideological education we have received since childhood is to promote the positive value and significance of socialism, but we rarely think about people's struggle during the social transformation period when such a social trend of thought appears. And confusion, thinking about the meaning of one's own existence and how to realize personal value. These thoughts have different manifestations in different social classes. My discussion specifically divides these into bourgeois, intellectuals, aristocratic and civilian women, and ordinary proletarians. The first is the bourgeoisie. The main representative of the bourgeoisie in this film is Victor Komarovsky. As a capitalist with considerable financial resources and a prominent reputation in the upper class, his original life was full of luxury and luxury. Love affairs are constant, and in the face of the proletariat’s parade demonstrations, he does not care to ridicule, but he is not a rich child with an empty brain. On the contrary, he has a clear understanding of the social situation in his heart. The one time I expressed my opinion was revealed in a conversation with Dr. Zhivag: But I don’t hate the Bolsheviks. Do you know why? Because I think they will win. Perhaps it is the long-term glitz that makes it easier for him to see the essence of social egoism. After the victory of the October Revolution in Russia, he once again found Zhivag and Nora while passing by Valegino, and expressed his pain in the dialogue. He knew how despicable he was, but he knew no matter what No matter how society changes, as long as it is valuable to those in power, then no matter what kind of identity you are, you will have a foothold. While being rejected At that time, he also expressed his despair hysterically. He did not believe that there would be people who truly existed for his faith in the world. At the same time, he hated the existence of these people, because this kind of loyalty more deeply reflected his own decadence. . For him, the realization of all his personal values lies in protecting his social wealth and trying to maintain a certain social status, no matter what kind of social form or method he adopts. This kind of thinking can also show the hollowness of part of the bourgeois life and the hope of seeking higher values but the inability to change their deep-rooted pecuniary and self-interested thinking. The transformation of intellectuals is the main aspect that the film wants to express. In my opinion, intellectuals can be divided into two types. One is intellectuals who were born into petty-bourgeois families, who had no worries about food and clothing and were able to receive a good education in their youth, and the other were those who were born into proletarian families, that is, poor families. , Relying on his own efforts to study hard, and in the process contacted with various social figures of all levels, intellectuals who have the most profound and clear understanding of society. The former is represented by Zhivag, and the latter is represented by Anjibov. Such intellectuals, represented by Zhivag, are ideologically more open than the mere bourgeoisie, and have a strong ability to accept various advanced social thoughts. They appreciate the simplicity and diligence of the working people. I also admire the courage and enthusiasm of the determined Bolsheviks. Their hearts are pure without suffering from society, and because they are not adulterated with suffering, they are particularly convinced of the cause they have paid for. But in the depths of their souls, what they yearn for and long for is still comfort and abundance. At the beginning of the war, Zhivag joined the fighting army with the desire to realize his life ambitions and dedicated his medical achievements to the country. However, after returning home, the huge change in the reality gave him a headshot, and his family was divided among others. All things are rationed on demand, and the original normal life for him is now difficult to restore again, even in order to allow his family to have enough firewood to embark on the road of stealing public property. What makes him most unacceptable is that the poems he once loved so much have turned into hedonistic dross that does not conform to the mainstream values of society. He once thought that his value lies in realizing his medical ambitions and expressing his deep emotions in poetry, but the reality made him question the meaning of his existence, and even doubts came out: I am also one of the people! Question. In the end, he can only choose to stay away from society and be a simple working people. Perhaps he will finally give up the opportunity to save his life and choose to stay in Russia. This unyielding loyalty to the motherland is his last way to realize his value. And intellectuals like Anjibov, because they have seen various All kinds of social suffering, their hearts are full of hatred of the bourgeoisie and the desire to overthrow the existing decadent tsarist system. Under these circumstances, the emergence of Bolshevism is like a life-saving straw for them. The same, once it appears, you must grasp it tightly without hesitation. In my opinion, these intellectuals are the most respectable but also the saddest. They follow the faith extremely purely, and in order to realize their faith, they can abandon everything about themselves, including life, family, not to mention money and other material desires. . But behind this blind pursuit and arrogant self-confidence, there are the germs of ultra-left thinking. Even when this trend of thought extends to society, extreme personality cults and populism are most likely to appear. In a positive sense, they are people who give everything to their ideals, but in a negative sense, they give themselves a high-sounding excuse to reflect their dissatisfaction with society and realize the heroism hidden in their hearts. . In the ending of the novel, Anjibov finally became a pure self, but was shot to death on the way to find Nora. At the moment he was dying, had he ever thought of being betrayed by the so-called "village betrayed us, just The reason for “to be burned” was wrong to drive out the people who were exterminated, and was forced to wait for his wife for so many years by claiming that “personal life has been destroyed in Russia” on the pretext of realizing his ideals? There is nothing wrong with pursuing personal ideals and realizing personal values, but using such high-sounding reasons to cover up one's inner selfishness and desires can only become a shameful behavior. Next is the difference between aristocratic and commoner women, represented by Tonya and Nora. As an aristocratic lady who has never eaten fireworks since she was a child, and was educated in Moscow, she does not have the arrogance of ordinary aristocrats. Instead, she is full of purity and fragility, and full of desire to protect. During Zhivag's military service, she helped him manage the housework wholeheartedly. Even in the face of suffering, she still strived to create an exquisite living environment, and was grateful for every bit of luck and happiness in her life, but her character also had weaknesses from aristocratic families. It means that you will not bravely fight when facing changes in the world, but can only be sensitive and panic, hoping to escape. Her life value lies in protecting her family in troubled times and seeking a place for her family. Although she does not have much lofty ideals, this spirit is still worthy of admiration. The woman represented by Nora was bruised and bruised by society in her girlhood. The living environment of women was originally more difficult than that of men. What's more, in the turbulent times, all the injuries became fair and honest, but she also became so. Be stronger. In the days that followed, she In order to find her husband, she bravely stepped onto the front line and showed her pride as a woman in the war, fearless and indomitable, and finally won the admiration of Zhivag. Maybe she didn't know where her value was manifested in her whole life, but in the eyes of others, she has become a courageous female model. The difference between these two lives is understandable, but in the novel, the protagonist Zhivag had married Tonya, but he was finally attracted by the brave Nora, and the kind-hearted Tonya remained after learning the truth. Retaining grief and sending a letter to Zhivag saying that Nora is a very good person, and that Nora’s residence is "a place where you think you should go when you come back." It makes me a little bit puzzled. Perhaps the sublimation and continuation of feelings require values. Collision, but hurting another woman for my own selfish desire makes me disdain. Finally, the proletariat is the working people in the general sense. The awakening of their consciousness is more manifested in the great purge after the establishment of the Soviet regime. In their view, they can finally turn themselves into the master, and finally they no longer have to suffer from assets. The class lords are angry. The courage and diligence of the working people are certainly worthy of our admiration, and the popularization of democratic ideas is indeed expected, but what we rarely have the opportunity to see in the film is that a small part of the working people belongs to the working people, but they are extremely representative. Sex is also the most prominent part, but it deeply embodies the root of human inferiority. In them, I have to say that I have not seen the realization of any meaningful life value. In the words of the novel, they are purely a group of "people who do whatever they want in the coat of the Red Army." In the period of social change, due to various reasons such as the imperfect social system or the urgent need of the masses as a foundation by the ruling party, these people are becoming more and more rampant on the road to do whatever they want. In their own eyes, they seem to be the incarnation of justice, contributing their own strength to social justice, but they do not realize that in the eyes of others, it is purely a bleat that sheep that has been kept in captivity for a long time is suddenly released from the sheepfold. I thought I had gained the same power as a wolf, but the truth was only the momentary kindness of the shepherd. To sum up, collective consciousness is composed of individual consciousness. The formation of collective consciousness must be affected by the long-term and current social environment. As a trend, it affects the direction of individual thoughts under certain circumstances, and ultimately affects individuals. Realization of value. This situation is not a special case, but is widely present in the social movement at all times, and it is more prominently manifested in the online public opinion and the public's value orientation at the moment. In my opinion, it is important for a person to form the correct three views from an early age, but it is more important to develop a habit of critical thinking.
