how do we feed ourselves

Existence is reasonable. This sentence is applicable everywhere. After watching the film, I think more about why we have such a production model, which seems to be dangerous and irresponsible for human health.
why? Because we have to feed ourselves. How many countries in the world are lack of land resources and food shortage? Is such a large-scale industrialized planting industry, breeding industry, and animal husbandry industry in the United States just for fun? It is because the market needs it, because we need these foods to feed ourselves, and because there is no such fast industrialized production, we cannot have enough to eat.
So we are not blindly rejecting this production model. In fact, as far as China is concerned, our relatively natural green food production model is still due to the fact that our productivity is not as developed in the United States.
The documentary also talks about children who died from eating beef containing pathogenic bacteria, which is obviously very distressing. But this is a food safety issue, and the government's negligence is really distressing. In China, we are also urging relevant government departments to control our food safety at all times, hoping that such a tragedy will not happen again.
In the final analysis, the most terrifying thing about this intensive production model is that food is monopolized by big companies. These big companies can even influence the decision of the government. Power is in the hands of money. This production model is correct, but it should be Once the important food safety problem breaks out, the innocent victims will be powerless to such a large enterprise. So do you think it's possible to change?
You can't imagine America without McDonald's, KFC.
But on the other hand, this film really makes us realize the drawbacks of modern production methods, and it also prompts us to further think about how to improve and improve our production mode to make it greener and more sustainable.

Food, Inc. quotes

  • Michael Pollan: The idea that you would need to write a book telling people where their food came from is just a sign of how far removed we've become. It seems to me that we're entitled to know about our food: who owns it, how are they making it, can I have a look in the kitchen?

  • Joel Salatin: We have allowed ourselves to become so disconnected and ignorant about something that is as intimate as the food that we eat.
