"Dark Invasion 2": Return to the embrace of monsters in the dark

After three years, the monsters in the darkness attacked again. Is there any luck this time?

There is a question mark when I come up. I vaguely remember that in the first part, I should have never escaped. How could anyone survive? Did you miss a detail? Confused. Poor woman, she managed to escape, but re-entered the tiger's den. Fate can't give you two chances. The blink of an eye of that evil old man when he descended the elevator foreshadowed the result.

Because it continues the plot of the first part, the suspense of returning to the cave is much less. The monsters are still those monsters, and they are sent to death one by one. This time, the equipment is much better, so the underground space is still relatively bright, and there is less shock from sneak attacks. It is often necessary to turn the camera and the monsters are behind you.

The film continued flat until the appearance of Juno, and then there was some taste of the first film, and the theme of human nature came back. Through Sarah's memories, Juno was actually a mistress who seduced her husband, and abandoned her in order to survive. There are naturally some fierce impulses to meet again, but in turn, Juno saved Sarah twice, and said sorry before dying, and did not blame Sarah for abandoning. Maybe because of the limited time, there is not much space to show the process of Juno's turnaround, and it doesn't even mention how she survived. After all, she is surrounded by carnivorous monsters and injured her legs. There is no explanation for this question mark.

The climax of the film is still good. There is a fine line between hope and despair. You think that you have got rid of despair and gained a new life, and it will be shattered in an instant. There is another question mark. The old man at the end is the old man who saved Sarah at the beginning. Since he did not want the public to know the secret of this cave, why did he save people in the first place? The only thing that can be linked is Sarah's amnesia. The old man's factor is in it.

In general, the atmosphere created continues the previous one, but some details are not justified, not as close as before, and there are more question marks.

The Descent: Part 2 quotes

  • Greg: Could piggyback on the elevator cables.

Ed Oswald: You planning to go down there, why not go down in style?

Greg: What, this old shit still works?

Ed Oswald: Sonny, let me tell you, this old shit-bucket will be working long time after that MP3 of yours.

  • Cath: Is it okay?

Dan: You know what's good? Modern mines have metal props. Miners prefer these old wooden ones.

    Cath: Why's that?

Dan: The metal ones don't give you any warning when they're about to go.
