Spoilers are involved. This movie, like Sansha, was dragged down by its name. The director handled the contradictory relationships between class, values, religion, and country very well. This film, like most films, has snippets of national singing and dancing, and the whole person glows when the monkey god dances.
Uncle Monkey God is kind and upright, he is a pious believer, but his pure love for the little girl helped him break down the barriers between beliefs. He rescued the little girl from the brothel with tears in his eyes.
It can be seen from the relationship between him and his girlfriend that he was a bit stupid with uprightness. With the help of smugglers, he refused to lie because of his beliefs. He risked being shot and "communicated" with the security team. The honest man really got his fist.
In the second half, he evaded police chase and went to jail. Public opinion pressured him to admit his identity as a spy, and the plot was thrilling in one go. Under social class oppression, the lower class often had to make compromises. Fortunately, the monkey god met the same upright people. The police let him go without telling his superiors, and the reporter helped him report the truth and guide correct public opinion.

There is a lot of discrimination in the world, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, geographical discrimination or religious discrimination. Just as in the movie, the two countries oppose each other and brand each other with ugly hatred, this kind of contradiction will be more obvious. This contradiction will take time to resolve. At the end of the story is a happy ending. The people of the two countries gather on the border to send the male protagonist back home.
