Everyone can only travel through their own life timeline, not to the time before they were born, and can only travel to the past, not the future. To put it simply, just like you are playing the game save file, if you are not satisfied with the game, you will continue to read the file. You can't read the file until the game has not started to play.
Sister Jenny has the ability to traverse, as if two people are playing the same game. When Sam read the file and killed his sister when the fire broke out, it is equivalent to overwriting and deleting another person's game file. Jenny's file was deleted. Once the overlay is removed, it can no longer interfere with Sam's game of life.
