Good people are never fools

The Chinese word "foolish" has the meaning of being ignorant of the world, describing a person who runs counter to the basic value orientation of society. If the social value orientation is fairness, justice, and integrity, then "foolishness" represents treacherous, deceitful, and greedy; if the social value orientation is generally in a bad situation, the so-called "foolishness" is often represented by those who are genuine nice guy. When a society uses "good people" to mean stupidity, that's the tragedy of the society and the tragedy of humanity.

The 2014 Russian film "Fool in a Dangerous Building" tells the story of a "good man" who has become a "fool". A dilapidated and dilapidated building will collapse within 24 hours, and the lives of 820 residents will be at risk; plumber Dima immediately informed the city officials after hearing the news, but the officials decided to sacrifice the 820 for their own interests. The people at the bottom sought to protect themselves; Dima, who was almost killed, rushed to the dangerous building and went door-to-door alone to make announcements, but the residents went downstairs in horror, not only did not thank Dima for his life-saving grace, but were dissatisfied with him for spreading rumors And a big fight; in the end, the injured Dima curled up on the ground, and the people returned to the dangerous building indifferently.

The story of "A Fool in a Dangerous Building" contains absurdity, but it also implies practical significance. The fictional world of the movie is a world where everyone does things for themselves, and no one takes more responsibility for others. Everyone thinks about themselves and will do anything to get more benefits. Whether it's the poor who steal water pipes that don't belong to them and sell them for money, or the bureaucrats who would rather embezzle huge sums of money than renovate dilapidated buildings. All these signs make good people naturally become aliens in such a society, becoming what people call "fools" and "experts in trouble".

The protagonist Dima is a man of integrity who is deeply influenced by his father. Dima's father is a good-natured character who, in his own words, "I lived 60 years without friends or enemies." Dima's mother is a pragmatic character, and the poverty and unbearable life make her see no hope in the father and son. She believes that kindness and responsibility make the father and son unwilling to seek more for themselves, so that life is so bad. And Dima knows that his father's integrity is not a fool, but a brave man. He believes that people who survive in this world not only seek something for themselves, but also undertake something for others. When he realizes this, he is no longer like ordinary people who don't care about themselves and sleep peacefully at home with his wife and children. He was not stupid at that moment when he went out and walked resolutely down the cold, empty streets, straight to the banquet hall of the bureaucrats, in order to save the lives of 820 residents who had nothing to do with him.

In contrast, the attitude of the bureaucrats is diametrically opposite to that of Dima. When they learned that the existence of the dangerous building would make them a prisoner, what they had been touting to each other at the banquet before became shirking and slandering each other. The female mayor, who was just celebrating her 50th birthday, who was affectionately called "mother", asked loudly at the meeting, "Whose hands are clean here?...Go and suck your nipples like a child." Well, if something happens, blame Mommy." The bureaucrats in the film are the upper class of this society. They enjoy more resources and money, but they are never willing to take their own responsibilities, even if they do a little practical work for the people at the bottom. They understand that to survive in this society depends more on earning than giving. If you can't get what you want, your life will be like maggots in shit, who has the time to care about the lives of others. However, their failure is precisely what they never cared about, and their panic stems from this. Isn't it stupid to have power but never take responsibility, and endless greed to bury itself?

Let's take a look at the residents of the dangerous buildings, they are the bottom of the society. Drugs and crime are hotbeds there. The living environment is dirty and smelly, and everyone lives like a parasite in this society. They don't think they need to take any responsibility. Since they have no medicine to save themselves and live like maggots, they have no time to take care of others. They are used to being poor and being bullied by others. They are called scum and garbage. No one cares about them. When Dima risked his life to go door to door telling them their lives were in danger, he was seen instead as a saboteur, a bureaucrat's lackey, and a man with bad intentions. How can it not be absurd and stupid for a good man to be ruthlessly regarded as a wicked man.

In fact, it is not wrong for people to think about themselves, and so are the animals in nature. The difference between humans and animals is that we not only seek benefits for ourselves, but we also have the courage to take responsibility for others. Only in this way can people live together in a collective existence. Dima knew this, but the others didn't. So Dima was regarded as an expert and a fool in everyone's eyes. Thus, his tragedy is an inevitable outcome.

The only warm place in the film is when Fedotov, a once greedy official, pleads for Dima before his death. At that moment, he knows that human life is precious, not just himself, but also the world. This is the most authentic consensus reached after looking at others against their own hearts-everyone's life is priceless, and everyone should take the responsibility of saving others. From this point, Fedotov is also a hero, he is not stupid.

The chair in the film is a good idea. People used to break it time and time again, but Dima's father fixed it time and time again. Because Dima's father knew that when a chair broke, someone would sit in the snow and freeze, and it was right in front of my eyes, and it was my responsibility to fix it.

A movie is a movie after all, it is not life itself. We don't want to live in such a dark corner, and we don't want to be seen as a fool by others like the protagonist Dima. Our society needs good people, people who have the courage to take responsibility for others, and people who treat others' situations fairly, not corrupt people who are greedy for their own interests, nor indifferent people who only care about themselves and the lives of others. Good people in today's society should be respected and valued by more people. Because good people are never fools, never ignorant of the world, never insulting and ironic to people!
