Deeper than the sea, higher than the sky

After watching it on 8.25, √4 stars are still familiar. It is Hiroyuki Koeda and the calm story. The rhythm of the plot is just right. There are also occasional "Yezhi" relaxed sentences like "You want to apologize like the 60 million lottery players in the country" It's not greasy and warm, and it's not forcibly provocative. To make a film well, to a certain extent, is to narrate life well. An ordinary typhoon connected the families who originally lived in their own worlds. The relationship between father and son, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, husband, wife, grandchildren and grandchildren continued to heat up in the small house, and it also made them understand each other. It is Hirokazu Kore-eda's work. I think it is not as directional or as strong as some of his works, but it is more broad and inclusive. Deeper than the sea, higher than the sky I have never had such feelings for anyone. Maybe it's because I don't have to carry these feelings to live every ordinary day. In my opinion, companionship is a bright line, and fatherly love is a dark line. If I had noticed the other person's mind earlier, would it not have become what it is now? As the movie says "it shouldn't be like this".

It is Hirokazu Kore-eda's films, always at a certain moment, with a simple sentence, to wake up the audience in an instant, to raise the height of the work without knowing it.

Cherish, accompany, understand. This is what everyone should do, but it is the hardest to do.

Ten years later, the boy should be another Ryuuya Yumi, right?

After the Storm quotes

  • Shinoda Yoshiko: I wonder why it is that men can't love the present. Either they just keep chasing whatever it is they've lost... or they keep dreaming beyond their reach.

  • Shinoda Ryôta: The lottery isn't gambling.

Shiraishi Kyôko: Of course it is.

Shinoda Ryôta: No, it is not.

Shiraishi Kyôko: What is it, then?

Shinoda Ryôta: It's a dream. A dream you buy for 300 Yen.
