Hitchcock-the master?

The more you watch Hitchcock's movies, the more you will discover his routines and his lack of attention to reality. For example, in this movie, regardless of the female safety awareness after successive murders, the ease of searching for evidence, and the abruptness of the police reversal. Just talk about the male protagonist's look towards the death of his girlfriend, and the couple who are willing to stay overnight with friends but are willing to let their friends die directly. There is no foreshadowing, just abrupt. And some details are only superficial, and the follow-up plot can be seen at a glance.

Hitchcock may be a director like Nolan, with skills and creativity in some aspects, and occasionally can be extended to philosophical speculation. But it lacks a basic sense of reality, and lacks bold breakthroughs in routines. However, Hitchcock was born early, perhaps this is also the reason for the luck to gain reputation.

This is one of Xi Fatt's bolder works, and the long close-up of the murder scene has become the hallmark of the film. In many places he also used a consistent symbolic technique, like a tie. Throughout his life, Xifa has devoted himself to attaching terrifying connotation to common objects in life, and this film is also very successful in this regard.

Xi Pang's works in his later years have a general sense of suspense, and his personal style is not very strong. The language of the lens is still very powerful, all kinds of empty mirrors, pushing and retracting slow mirrors, and long mirrors flash back, all in one go. It can be called a walking lens dismantling textbook. In fact, I personally think that the witty dinner table conversation between the inspector and his wife is much better than the story itself. The male protagonist is really stupid, and the open ending is a bit interesting.

    Babs Milligan: Oh, get stuffed!

  • Robert Rusk: I was just coming over for a quick one. Why aren't you back there polishing the sausages or watering the gin or whatever it is you do there before opening time?

Richard Blaney: I have just been given the push.

Robert Rusk: What for? You weren't pissing in the beer again?
