Me, you, him, her, him

It was another movie I saw at the Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2006. I sat in the last row as I wanted and felt the heroine's bravery and strength.

The story revolves around people and things in a small community. Richard and his wife separated, Richard became disheartened; the dream of the little girl next door waiting to be married; the two 17-year-old girls next door and the fat guy's literal teasing; Richard's 14-year-old son Peter became the 17-year-old girl next door The sex test subject for the elderly; Grace drives as a driver for the elderly; Grace herself has many weird works of art; while the performance artist July satisfies her selfish desires through pornographic websites, she actually met Richard’s 7-year-old son...everything seems like Independent, but with different connections. Things are only connected, but they cannot be further developed. There is always a feeling of protecting their respective fields. Director July, and the performing artist in the film, wanted to tell everyone that in this era, although people seem to be connected one by one, it seems a pity that the gap between them seems to be getting bigger and bigger? Flipping through the introduction of the film, it said, "People who can walk together, you think they are predestined, actually have feelings, so they are fragile." All the short stories, they are connected, but they protect their own space, even if they have It feels that each is not easy to open and close, making the relationship seem fragile.

Shot 1: YOU and ME Perseverance and bravery
Grace, I like her very much. She has a lot of daydreams, and being in a daze and fantasizing is actually a very interesting life. She herself will face a picture of the sunset on the beach alone, dubbing alone, playing two different roles; she will shoot strange short films with DV. In her life, in addition to satisfying her own artistic desires, she would be crazy for people who throbbed her, just as crazy for her own works of art. Richard, the shoe clerk, introduced her to a pair of pink leather shoes by chance. Richard analyzed the pain of her ankle out of being responsible for the customer, and suggested that she buy a pair of comfortable shoes. After Grace bought her home, she missed her shoes as well as people. She felt that she had met a pair of good "shoes" in her life and tried her best to own and wear it. There is a scene where Grace writes YOU and ME on the pink shoes. After putting them on, her left and right feet are chasing and touching each other. How much she hopes to chase and touch Richard in reality. So Grace used her bravery and persistence to find ways to get close to Richard. Walking with him on the road, using words to compare the street to life, trying to walk into Richard; in the store, I want to use weird behavior to get Richard's attention; I want to say "I love U" to Richard, but I borrow a talking frame to speak out . If we in real life all have Grace’s dedication to love and enthusiasm for life, perhaps the current society will no longer be so indifferent and indifferent, even though this idea is naive. However, Grace gave us hope.

Shot 2: We need to dream
that there is a little girl next door with freckles on her face. She is not beautiful, but she is the cutest because she has always dreamed. She packed her dreams into a big box, which contained her expectations for the future, love, family, and children. She knows what kind of dreams she needs. When she was lying in the room with Richard's 14-year-old son Peter, she was calmly and warmly dreaming about the kitchen when she grew up, and describing to Peter the happy time she had with her children... I think she will be able to achieve it. Our lives really need dreams to support, as my friend said to me "As long as you are firm, dreams will never die"!

Shot 3: Coins ring, the embrace ends
The palm of the car who watched the video together asked me: Do you figure out the last coin? Indeed, I spent a long time thinking about this issue. Not every movie is so esoteric. You don't need to finish watching it to understand her meaning. Maybe the director doesn't think that way. In the end, the answer I gave is: He is waiting for the bus every day, knocking coins every day, and living the same life, that is, he wants to knock out a sound to attract the attention of others. At the end of the film, he did attract the attention of Richard's 7-year-old son, showing signs of changing the ordinary, as if he finally knocked on a person's heart. Richard accepted Grace's hug, and their embrace ended. Didn't it just break the fragile relationship and become closer? The bird in the painting becomes a bird on a tree, but the original feeling of incompatibility has become so real and close. By the way, that should be it.

The glue sticks and presses on each side for two minutes. Do you still remember this bridge?

Me and You and Everyone We Know quotes

  • Richard Swersey: In some cultures, when you burn yourself, it's a ceremony. It's called self-immolation! My uncle used to do it all the time. It was a great trick! He'd put the stuff on it, light it, and it would just go out when he went like this.

[moves bandaged hand back and forth]

Richard Swersey: After I lit it, I suddenly remembered: It's alcohol that burns, but doesn't burn up. Lighter fluid just burns... and then I thought, "It's okay. It's better this way."

  • Richard Swersey: [carrying bowls of cereal] I thought we'd have breakfast for dinner. And then maybe sometime we'll have dinner for breakfast. Just to mix things up a little.
