Good knife in the scabbard

If it were placed in China, such a movie about knights and heroes should be full of justice and pride. But Akira Kurosawa photographed it, no.

A movie that should be tense and intense. When I watched it, I always laughed out because of its ubiquitous humor. It felt very relaxed and happy. The only shock was the moment of the final duel. It was simply shocking, and it absolutely proved the truth that hearing is not as good as seeing.

The madam and the young lady's peace in the dangerous situation, like smelling the fragrance of grass, clear water, gossiping about the camellia, and soft but gentler tone like Wu Nong's soft words, which makes the atmosphere of tension seem fun and enjoyable.

What I love the most is the wife’s evaluation of the hero: like a knife without a scabbard, it is very sharp; but a good knife should be placed in the scabbard.

But isn't it? In the current life and work, should we also put a good knife in the scabbard?

A deconstruction and construction of the spirit of Bushido, the camellia and the samurai sword, which symbolize the dualistic spirit of the Japanese nation, show a beautiful combination of hardness and softness under the almost perfect adjustment of dexterous rhythm and connecting the isolated space. @ Archives

The character characterization is really good, whether it is personality or ideas, as well as the conflicts and team splits brought about by the two, it is vividly displayed, the small details are particularly well grasped, and they can all be summed up into the big truth. Zeming's reasoning is much better than Rashomon's time. The story is really interesting, and Akira Kurosawa is really good at telling stories. It was where the last two confrontation, the blood spurting was too fake... The movement of the mirror and the composition were superb.

Sanjuro quotes

  • Iori Izaka: Let's follow them for now. Circumstances will decide whether we attack or not.

[to Sanjuro, who is lazing by the window, listening to their conversation]

Iori Izaka: What do you say?

Sanjûrô Tsubaki: It's a stupid plan, but some excitement might keep me awake.

[He yawns and hauls himself up to join Izaka and his companions on one of their shenanigans]

  • Mutsuta's wife: [Indicating Sanjuro] Who is that gentleman?

Iori Izaka: It's hard to explain. A strange series of events has made him our ally. Indeed, he saved our lives.
