As far as my personal experience of watching movies is concerned, I think this animation is quite mature. Of course, my standards for animation have always been relatively mild. In fact, if the content of "Poppy" is a Korean drama, the story in the upper part of "The Little Man with Borrowing Things" is also very old-fashioned. So let's analyze the story directly.

2. The supporting role is outstanding. The philosophical weirdness of the seniors, the busyness and informality of Beidou, the slowness of talking and doing things when I look for my sister, a somewhat natural look, being well-protected by my sister, Xiaokong, who is well dressed, and a little spoiled, and in the Latin Quarter. The character positioning of the heroine Hai is a bit vague. On the one hand, she has the courage of a vigorous girl, is busy doing housework and helping the weekly lettering, is the protagonist exuding positive energy. On the other hand, due to the early death of his father and his mother studying abroad, the sea that supported this family early seemed too precocious and sensible, and there was also a very fragile side in Hai's heart. Miyazaki Goro obviously couldn't give up this part of Hai's character and deliberately rendered it in the animation. Several memories have highlighted this point. From the documentary "Father and Son 300 Days War", we can see that during the creative process, the sea that Miyazaki Goro first described was not lively at all, and looked worried. Miyazaki kept denying this role, and Toshio Suzuki denied this inactive role. After the retreat, Miyazaki Goro finally turned the sea into a lively girl after his father sent a painting from his school hours at sea.
However, the problem has not been fundamentally solved. Miyazaki Goro changed the table for this, but the action of the girl who leaned forward hurriedly in the animation looked strange. The girl who ate the croquette and said it was delicious, her eyes stagnated, her expression was too subtle, and she failed to show the mood of the first love girl well. In the end, Hayao Miyazaki's "girly heart" failed to completely defeat the melancholy girl in the animation. This may have something to do with the fact that Miyazaki Goro's father was busy with work when he was a boy, and he basically lacked his father's love. This is where Miyazaki Goro originally wanted to insist. After the compromise, some of Hai's behaviors made people confused. For example, in order to show a sea of ​​diligence and housekeeping, the animation has given her too much burden, cooking, washing, shopping and washing dishes, helping her brother to fill socks, etc. The younger sister is obviously only a little younger than her, but basic I don't worry about anything. When I return late, my sister, brother, and grandmother are busy watching TV, and they don't even want to help buy things. Looking at it, I can’t help but get angry. How can there be such a superhuman vitality girl? Isn't her fragility and sadness due to her being too kind and doing everything? So when I looked at it, I felt she was doing her best, and even the housework that was meant to show her positive energy also made people feel that she was very pitiful.
The heroine's movements are too few and too regular, which also makes her look inactive. A slight comparison of "Put Ears and Listen", you can find that Yuedaowen is much more lively than Hai, who is also walking and writing. Animation is amazing in these respects, and it is not a person at all when the action styles are different. Miyazaki Goro still has to practice.
If it were Hayao Miyazaki, this story would be another style. Even the sad things, Hayao Miyazaki can use the sun to disperse them, which brings people moving. Isn’t the sister in Totoro pitiful? My mother has been in the hospital, can't see her mother's sisters, don't you miss your mother? But these are hidden behind the story by Hayao Miyazaki, allowing you to deeply appreciate the meaning after reading it. And Miyazaki Goro directly brought out the sadness, unpretentious, and it was difficult to reach the height of his father.
Don't compare this way, Miyazaki has only one after all. He is an animated poet, and he does not eat fireworks. But Miyazaki Goro did work very hard. Even so, his poppies still have a lot of merits.

2. Two main lines: brother and sister love, defending the Latin Quarter.
I don't want to talk more about the story of brother and sister love here. I thought about many other possibilities or other contradictions, but I couldn't show this story better. (It seems that the original novel should be used for a look)
Another line, defend the Latin Quarter. This is a setting that I like very much, and it is the main reason why this film is so brilliant. Coupled with the background of the times and the setting of the seaport town, it is about to become a classic. It's a pity that my personal opinion feels that this film does not well highlight the characteristics of the harbor town. "Side Ear" is also a story of a girl with first love, without any major external contradictions, and the city in which the story takes place is also very ordinary, but the director puts summer and the city as characters in the animation, which makes the whole film brimming with enthusiasm. The youth like summer leaves a very deep impression on people. Although it's just an ordinary city, Yuedaowen led the audience to see the difference in this city, very life but also dreamy. But there is no such thing as "Poppy". Except for the section where Jun takes the sea to shop, this harbor is only the background of the story, not the protagonist of the story, and lacks vitality.
