Why should it be viewed as a religious film?

I have watched this film twice, and the reason I watched it twice is because when I watched it for the second time, I completely couldn't remember the plot of the first time I watched it, so I thought it was the first time I watched it.
I don't reject Christian religious films, because I don't believe in religion, so I don't have any pressure. Perhaps religious people watch this film and feel completely different from mine.
To the one-star audience, this one star is not for the movie, but for the ideology.
I think this film can be regarded as a disaster film with a religious color at most. The shooting level is moderate, the special effects are very average, the conflicts set up on the plane are relatively good, and the plot of infighting and killing people before the plane’s forced landing is not designed. Nicholas Cage’s performance is skillful and natural, and he has a very good performance for the uncle around us.
The core idea of the film is: Those who believe in God, God will save them, and those who do not believe in God, save themselves. When a disaster occurs, no matter what causes it, humans must save themselves, and human history will continue, and God will exist.
Religion is always a product of politics. Regardless of whether it is recognized or not, no matter how it is understood, religion is produced for the purpose of rule. Over the millennia of history, religion has been constantly changing, along with the rise and fall of the ruling class. Why people believe in religion is actually trying to find a reason for all their behaviors. Right and wrong are no longer able to measure complex human behavior, so God is the only reason. The existence of God is the ultimate explanation. It is an existence that transcends logic and human cognition. Whether it is contradictory or absurd, God is the conclusion. You cannot convince a devout Christian that God does not exist, because you speak different languages, even different species.
Back to this film. The mysterious power disappeared out of thin air, and the inexplicable fear occupied all the survivors. People need an explanation. The audience knows, or the author of the original book knows, that God has appeared. But the passengers on the plane would not accept this explanation because they wanted to survive on the plane that was about to crash
.
God saved those who believed in him and left the hatred to the living. If he really exists, then he is planning a brutal cleansing of mankind, pushing the living people into the abyss of hatred.
Christians believe that God took them away to protect them from disaster and suffering. This conclusion is the gospel for devout Christians, but it is absurd for non-believers. Again, it is difficult for these two ethnic groups to communicate. This reminds me of the movie "Strategic Secret Service", what exactly is justice? Kill more people in order to save one person, or kill one person and save hundreds of people? Can life be compared? There is no answer to this question, just as there is no answer to whether God exists. You can think about it, but you will never be able to persuade those who oppose you.
This movie, I would rather believe that it is a disaster film with a religious introduction. At the end, people were relieved and cheered, not because God appeared, but because they survived. Is the film a satire of God? Is it a satire of infidels and blasphemers? There is no conclusion, you can believe it in any way. You can even believe that the last person on the plane survived, thanks to God's blessing.
Some people persevere by believing in God when they are desperate, and some people face all kindness indifferently because they believe in God in the face of disaster.

Another bad film by Cage, the king of bad films

  • Anthony 2022-04-21 09:03:01

A super bad 2014 film that even Cage couldn't afford to inject any of his own light into it. This lousy film is about the moment of disaster for other people after Thanos snapped his fingers in "Avengers 3", when half of the people on the earth were lost, but this lousy film is a pure Christian missionary film. Logic mocks the beliefs of devout believers, but only by believing in God can you go to heaven. The yin and yang slapped all scientism in the face, so much like a religious propaganda film, Cage can be ranked in the top five garbage in his acting career.
