"Mirror Mask" brought my nightmare to an end. I don’t want to talk about its wonderful content, because those magnificent pictures and fascinating music are difficult to put into words, and I don’t want you to just watch it. Make a recreational movie, or a so-called "sci-fi movie" promoted on a movie poster. I see it as a wonderful dream to make up for my damaged brain nerves at night.
"I want to live a real life"
In the heart of a teenage girl, what is real life? Actually it is not clear. But anyway, it's not the colorful circus under the red halo, it's not the juggling performance that makes people laugh, it's not the life I'm living now. The graffiti in H's pen is black and white: If this is not the real life I want to live, then I must break free. What is the result of this? My mother fell ill and was hospitalized. My father was in financial crisis. H was full of guilt but continued to be unwilling. When love contradicts the real life I want to live, what should I do?
Love? Real life?
This is also a difficult choice for adults, and even more so for H. One second I heard my mother nagging: "You can't handle real life at all", and the next second I get into a dilemma of choice. This is no longer a problem that simple black and white graffiti can solve. Then, H has the right that an adult no longer has, to have a colorful dream.
Adult dreams are so boring and boring. If there are few wonderful and wonderful things, they must ask for a source. Freud argued: "The psychological world is the same as the physical world, there is no accident," so dreams are by no means a wrong association caused by chance. The ethereal prelude of "close to you" sounded, the mottled metal puppets began to dance mechanically, and the soft hands stroked H's face, leaving a warm black shadow everywhere. The eyelids shrouded in black smoke, the black flowers blooming on the lips, the messy short hair was combed back into a noble bun, and the black dress slowly climbed onto the body. The darkness is eating H gently, without pain, without hesitation. Here, I have to mention "close to you" as an interlude. This piece from the Carpenter band was actually adapted from "they long to be close to you" composed by Burt Bacharach in 1963. The film "Sunset Angel" also used this song at the end of the film, but as an episode of "Mirror Mask", "close to you" was again adapted in the Carpenter's version, and the genre continued the Carpenter's Soothing the mood, adding a more ethereal musical element. It can be said that its existence more powerfully interprets the hidden growth of the dark side in H's heart. With a kind of poisonous gesture, it gently captures the human heart from the beginning, and then quietly corrodes it. Just like the idea of "I want to live a real life", it is understandable in itself, but it slowly changes its flavor amidst depression and quarrels.
But these are not H's dreams. These are just dream illusions created by director Dave McKean, which conform to the logic of adults, but are not childlike. Fortunately, the painter Dave McKean, who became famous for the Batman comic "ARKHAW ASYLUM", is the director of this film. For several years, he has been trying different professions such as illustrator, media master, MTV director, digital artist and so on. With a heart of pursuing novel things, can I imagine countless scenes bursting with imagination, and use the rich colors of classical oil paintings to depict those magical pictures, creating a color dream for H that truly belongs to children.

The sound, it turned out to be just all kinds of noises in the busy season in the countryside. The groaning of the cattle in the distance turns into the weeping of a soft-shelled turtle in a dream. "Any wind and grass, even the sound of air movement, will become a child’s dream. a part of. Even if you know that they all come from reality, you can never find the logic. Just like H finds the mirror mask and wakes up from his sleep to find that all the problems are solved, it is inexplicable.
Love? Real life?
This choice may not be that difficult, perhaps we just need to have a dream that we haven't had in a long time, a beautiful and colorful dream like a child. But if you can’t dream that kind of dream like me some time ago, then you can watch "Mirror Mask". And now, I am going to dream.
