"A Good Man" Film Critic

"A Good Man" looked at the name and thought it was a feature film at first, but when I looked at the director and starring role, I knew that this film was not as gentle as the title. "A Good Man" directed by Sammo Hung and starring Jackie Chan is a wonderful action movie with action scenes from beginning to end. The film "A Good Man" was produced by Golden Harvest Film Co., Ltd. in 1997. It was a Lunar New Year film for the Spring Festival in 1997. The film earned 45 million Hong Kong dollars at the box office and ranked ninth among the 50 Hong Kong-produced films with the highest box office in Hong Kong.

It seems that at that time, many action movies like to set their storylines in foreign countries, or have some foreign stories. It may be to cater to the curiosity of the general public about foreign countries at the time. Sometimes there are many shots showing foreign buildings and landscapes. But in this way, it always feels a bit far-fetched in terms of the storyline, and this "A Good Man" is no exception. First of all, Jackie Chan plays a well-known Chinese chef abroad, but as a chef, his superb fighting ability has surpassed that of a gangster and a professional policeman. Everyone may know Jackie Chan, so he can play, but in terms of plot, it is a bit harder, because this chef may be more powerful than ordinary agents. There is also Zhou Huajian who appeared in the movie. I was thinking when I watched it, are there many Chinese buying ice cream abroad. And when Jack was kidnapped by the bad guys in the car and fighting with the bad guys, Sammo Hung came over on a bicycle. I was thinking again, since I am abroad, are there many Chinese riding bicycles.

Of course, for a movie, it’s all about the plot setting. The characters and plot are set for better viewing effects. If you can give some introductory introduction to the plot, it will be even better. Well, at least the plot will not be too blunt. I have to say that although the guest appearances of Emil Chau and Sammo Hung are not many, they are the highlights of the movie. Their appearance adds a lot of points to the comedy of the movie.

Let’s talk about this movie again. Director Sammo Hung is really attentive. Every detail and various elements that are needed in the movie are shown, such as the image of Coca-Cola spouting and so on. Especially the set scenes of chasing on a horse-drawn carriage are very novel and powerful. I have been used to various scenes of drag racing. The exciting action scenes on the horse-drawn carriages are also very attractive to the audience. The section running in front of the street shops , Jack climbed up the billboard and wrestled with the bad guys, so that I felt that in Jackie Chan's later filming of "New Police Story", the action of jumping on the billboard on the bus was also imitating this movie. While the carriage is moving forward, Jack has been fighting with the bad guys while protecting Miki. At this time, if you look into the plot, you will find it a bit funny. Jack is constantly fighting the bad guys. Miki is lying in the middle of the two horses. There was no sound. The scenes were all Jack fighting scenes. Miki only called for help when needed, but maybe this was just to set off Jackie Chan's action scene.

I have to say that at the end of the movie, the section where Jack was run over by the oversized truck to avoid it should be the most exciting part of the film. It is really exciting to watch. When watching the movie, it seems like that oversized. The truck will push itself down. Every evasive action of Jack is so enjoyable, especially when Jack tries to climb into the car many times, and finally climbs up the wheel along the wheels. It is very exciting and novel. It may only be Jackie Chan. Big brother's skill can perfectly interpret such movements. Let’s talk about it. In the end, when Jack drove this oversized truck back and crashed into the gang’s nest, the movie did not have too much verbal plot, and he went straight to the end. With Jackie Chan’s angry expression, he drove the truck and destroyed it step by step. Gangster lair. This shot is really wonderful as the ending of the movie. But at the same time, at the end of the movie, there is the same plot as many other movies, that is, the protagonist has done everything, and then the police come, but this movie is a bit different. The police have always been there, and I feel that the police are a little bit out. The scene was over, as if Jack was driving a truck into a collision, and the police seemed to be watching in front of the camera. Finally, when the matter was over, the two police officers came out and sighed.

At that time, there was no special effect blessing. There were so many wonderful action scenes from beginning to end. It was really not easy. Many scenes were purely artificially produced. This point is praise.

If you give a film a score of 10, I would give a score of 7 to the movie "A Good Man".

The sincerity of Jackie Chan's film, the plot design is always accidental involvement, but the difference is that the video tape that is the focus of the film does not appear until the end, and there are not many snatch action scenes designed around the video tape itself. The action scenes gradually escalate with the plot, playing non-stop. The horse-drawn carriage and the fight and escape at the construction site were impressive, and the final scene of the heavy forklift rushing into the villain's house was still very cool, and it also added a sense of irony to the title of "A Good Man". (7.5/10)

6.5/10 Comparing Jackie Chan's works in the same period of three to five years, this film is definitely mediocre. One is that the play is weak, and the other is that the action scenes are hardly fresh, but they have contributed to some so-called famous scenes that can be glimpsed in short videos today. If you sort out the classic action moments of Jackie Chan’s movies, I think the scene of a carriage running on a street can be cut with a high probability. Among them, but for the whole movie probably the highlights are nothing more than that. The ending is set quite mindlessly, but it seems that some of the "soul" of Jackie Chan's action movies have been lost while the scene is hot. PS The actress of Jackie Chan and Liushui, Li Tingyi's performance in this film can be described as unsatisfactory. She will inadvertently enter the performance of Qiong Yao's drama, and it is no wonder that she almost played Xiaoyanzi at the beginning~
