Lose the original taste

To be honest, there are not many movies that are adapted to the original taste. The director always adds his own elements, making people feel that what comes out is not a donkey or a horse. The beauty of the original work lies in the humorous and playful words and being in the environment of Victorian society in the 19th century. But this movie makes people feel similar to the platypus of the 21st century. The most ridiculous thing is the ridiculous translation, called "Sweetheart Big Talker", which sounds like a romantic novel, which is an insult to Wilde's work and loses the meaning of the original title. The essence of the whole drama lies in earnest. In this moment, the taste is lost and it becomes a modern romantic drama. In the adaptation, the style of the 19th century aristocracy was lost, and the over-modernity aggravated the popularity, which was another failure.

Compared with Wilde's original work, a lot of new scenes have been added, including the final revelation of the truth, which has also been changed. Compared with the old CC version of TIOBE, it is much more playful, costumes, music, and exaggerated performances of characters. The footwork of mocking is indeed Wilde's style haha, I really like the part of playing the piano and singing. Sure enough, Colin is holding the guitar, and Rupert must be blahblahblah again on the set

I always feel that something is missing from the script. . .

The Importance of Being Earnest quotes

  • Algy: Bunbury? He was quite *exploded*.

    Lady Bracknell: Exploded?

    Algy: [pretending sadness] Mm.

Lady Bracknell: Was he the victim of some revolutionary outrage? I was not aware that Mr. Bunbury was interested in social legislation.

Algy: My dear Aunt Augusta, I mean he was *found out*. The doctors found out that Bunbury could not live - that is what I mean - so Bunbury died.

Lady Bracknell: He seems to have had great confidence in the opinion of his physicians.

  • Jack: Then a passionate celibacy is all that any of us can look forward to.
