What did the little boy teach us?

The little boy symbolizes the human heart's desire for peace. It is so pure, just like the little boy's love for his father. However, most of us are no longer as pure as little boys. We are more like other people in the small town. When facing love, the way to express love is the anger and loss of control after the loss.

This loss of control is expressed naturally in this story, but others can’t see the reason for accusing them. They are defending their hometown... etc. It seems that everything can only be blamed on the evil forces that launched the war...

Therefore, we have no idea what to do. We can only swallow this sin and get involved in this killing and tragedy. We complain to each other, but seem powerless to this fact.

The little boy gave a different answer:

Yes, he also has hatred, but his naivety and innocence let him see a more important aspect: the LIST that allows our loved ones to return to their homeland; other people can seem to directly filter this layer Possibly, in the vast ocean of hatred, slowly being swallowed by blood and tears, history repeats itself again and again without progress.

The little boy was unmoved, and people saw the hypocrisy of hatred when interacting with the enemy. In fact, it’s very simple to think of being a person like that. Cover your eyes and ears, let the radio and TV tell us who we want to hate, and express our love at once.

Are the people around you so cute? No, they are still all kinds of bully, all kinds of fallen doctors, all kinds of irrational people who are tortured by grief, and they are not necessarily without the ugly enemies in the war.

Because there is no winner in a war; as long as we are involved, we are all losers, sooner or later.

From a human perspective, people seem vulnerable to war? !

Yes.

But

remember, who initiated the war? Why is there a war? Why are they attacking your port?

Is it because they have all your belongings or they have taken your lover?

No, it is your choice for you to participate in the war. When you make this choice, you are doomed to lose, sooner or later.

Be wary of those demagogues, because their interests are damaged, but your family members are required to shed blood and sacrifice. Why?

Because you are stupid.

Just finished reading, crying like a dog. Gradually learn more about that period of history, whether it is right or wrong, the suffering brought by the war to ordinary people is huge. Reflecting that period of history from the perspective of a little boy, it’s sincere and touching

Little Boy quotes

  • [first lines]

Ben Eagle Narrator: [narrating] This is O'Hare, California. Back then it was nothing more than a sleepy fishing village, with a hill at the end of Main Street. Like you see in postcards. My story takes place on the home front, in the midst of World War II. That's me, the little fella.

    Photographer: [motioning to the youngest]

    Little Boy: Closer?

Freddy Fox: [ribbing him] Stop causing trouble, you midget.

Ben Eagle Narrator: Nobody in that town liked me much.

    Photographer: One, two, three.

    [flash]

Ben Eagle Narrator: I was eight years old. But the story really starts the day I met my dad. My only friend. My partner.

    Nurse Barbara: He's a boy!

    James Busbee: Wow! He's so...

    Nurse Barbara: What? Little?

James Busbee: Well, he'll grow. Right?

  • Hashimoto: [holding Pepper's chin] Don't measure yourself from here to the floor. Measure yourself from here to the sky. That makes you the tallest boy in town.
