When parting, don’t worry about right or wrong

Evening is really a very literary and artistic film, the picture is very beautiful, the plot of the narrative does not benefit from the original work, it gives the whole story a slightly sad mystery.

The Harris portrayed by Pa is always wandering between scum and no scum, sometimes embarrassing, and sometimes feels guilty; Buddy in the teacup should be the most brilliant character in the whole film, and seems to always be searching for something in the confusion; Lila's pen and ink Not much, no matter love or hatred, they are no different from ordinary people; Ann is both a witness and a narrator, slowly unfolding the story in the words of her daughters before her death.

When everything started and died, Ann recalled what happened back then, repeatedly telling that she had killed Buddy, and that the only person she loved was Harris. And this is the first time the two daughters heard their mother mention these names, this period of life.

Back then, the 25-year-old Ann also had a dream-a singer, was attracted to Harris, the son of a friend Lila's housekeeper, and also confessed by Lila's younger brother Buddy. Ann rejected Buddy, who had been treating her with her brother, and accepted Harris. Everything that was taken for granted caused Buddy to accidentally get into a car accident, and at the moment the only doctor, Harris, was with Ann and didn't arrive in time. Ann felt guilty and left the family forever, and no longer contacted Lila and Harris. Years later, Ann got married and had children. She bid farewell to her dreams in the chai, rice, oil and salt, coaxing the children while cooking, and raising two young daughters with difficulty. In that era (perhaps now), women could hardly have their own dreams and be mothers at the same time. The dedication to the family made Ann had to sacrifice her dreams.

Lila was born rich, and she was obsessed with Harris for many years when she was young, and even cried out her love to Ann on the eve of the wedding, because it was almost impossible to marry the housekeeper's son. Lila had expressed his thoughts to Harris. Harris didn't know whether he had no feelings for Lila, or he never wanted to climb the upper class and rejected her. Harris later became a doctor, helping ordinary people like himself. Lila gave up her heart and married a wealthy boy who was also in the upper class, and continued to lead a prosperous life.

Harris, the son of a housekeeper, grew up in Lila's parents, and took care of Buddy like a brother. Facing Lila's confession, he never crossed the boundaries. Ann's arrival seemed to him to shine into the bubble of high society, bursting with rainbow-like colors. He takes Ann to identify the starry sky of Xia Ye, he encourages her to pursue her dream, and he accompanies her to sing the song Time from time at Lila's wedding. Had it not been for Buddy's accidental death, Harris might have been with Ann and lived an ordinary life of ordinary people. Maybe Ann can not give up singing, maybe her life will be different, maybe Ann will feel happy when she dies; but maybe Ann will fall in love with others, maybe they won't be happy after being together. We will never know where the fork in life will lead.

Years later, Ann and Harris met by chance, and both were married and had children. Harris said, I still remember the star that belongs to us.

Finally, let's talk about Buddy. As Lila's younger brother, Buddy has always known that his sister has been obsessed with Harris for many years. Buddy is full of idealism. She wonders why Lila wants to marry someone she doesn't love, and she also wants to ask Ann to persuade Lila. At the same time, Buddy himself also loves Ann, which is more like Shi's obsession, such as keeping the note that Ann gave him for many years. After Ann rejected Buddy, Buddy was drunk and jumped into the sea. Ann thought that Buddy might drown and was anxious, but did not expect to be teased. Ann was very angry and told Buddy not to be childish, Be a man! Then left with Harris.

Buddy tried to catch up with Ann to explain something to her, one last thing, but got drunk in a car accident. Buddy's death caused Ann to blame himself, for the last cruel word to him, for Harris because he did not arrive in time. Ann knew he couldn't be with Harris anymore.

When thinking of the death of the big cousin’s fiancee in Downton Abbey, I said to the big cousin, we can never be together, we are damned.

Buddy is kind, but at the same time entangled, tormented, and painful. He hopes his sister will be happy and advises her not to marry to no avail; he loves Ann and confesses it, but it makes himself more painful. From welcoming Ann at the beginning, to the wedding, to the confession, to the accident, I always feel sad and powerless to watch Buddy sink down step by step.

At the end of the film, Lila, who is also old but still elegant, comes to visit Ann in the dying. Before Ann’s bed, the daughters asked Lila’s mother if she had done any bad things. Lila said, your mother is great and raised you; she is a good singer, she sang at my wedding.

Lila: Your mother had a whole life, she had you. She sang at my wedding.

When parting, don't worry about right or wrong.
