The era of film transition to digital

The development of film has gone through many stages, from silent to sound, such as "Song in the Rain", "Sunset Boulevard" and other films describe the impact of the transitional period of silent to sound film on filmmakers. In that era, sound film was just an attempt, but it was a great success, becoming a trend, a future. Then the film moved from the black and white era to the color era, making us feel that the film is becoming more and more real. And now we are undergoing the next great change, from film to digital, which is the change experienced by our generation of film viewers. With the improvement of digital technology, our movie-watching experience will be completely subverted. Movies are no longer just for us to watch, we will become a part of the movie, and the audience and the movie will no longer be separated.
Since George Lucas tried to use digital cameras to shoot movies in the second Star Wars, digital technology has been increasingly used in movies. With the improvement of digital technology, film technology is more and more likely to be replaced, and many large-scale photography manufacturers have discontinued the production of film equipment. Like every great change, people will express their dissatisfaction with the past, but there are still many people who insist on using film to shoot movies. I believe that film still has an advantage, although this advantage is getting smaller and smaller. Film technology has accompanied mankind for more than one hundred years and is one of the most important inventions of mankind in the 20th century. Its contribution to human society is indelible. In addition, due to its physical characteristics, film still has many advantages, such as long storage time and so on. However, the gradual improvement of digital technology represents a brand new movie experience, not only changing the way of filming movies, but also changing the way of watching movies. Due to lower investment costs, digital films can be shot at multiple angles at the same time, and even allow actors to have unlimited NG. This is an advantage that film does not have; in addition, digital cameras are shooting more and more clearly, reaching 4k or even 5k. This is far higher than the HD standard, which is also an advantage that film does not have. In addition, digital has the advantage of post-production, editing and editing become easier. But digital also has its disadvantages. Its storage time is what people are concerned about. Different formats require different players. Some formats that are no longer used can only be played by players of that era. This is not like film, as long as You can watch it anytime you have light. But digital does represent the future.
The changes brought about by digital technology are comprehensive, not just filming. Its changes are also reflected in the post-production of the film, the broadcasting medium of the theater, and the audience's viewing experience.
Movies in theaters no longer need bulky film, because the cost of transporting films to various places is also huge, and digital storage solves the transportation problem, and the cost of theater projections is also reduced. In addition, digital technology brings a better viewing experience, such as IMAX, 3D, and the audience feels like they are in the movie, making the movie alive. In general, this is an all-round change, representing a temporary new era.
We look forward to new technologies, new experiences, and digital technology to create a new way of filming. But in addition, we are also grateful for film films that have accompanied our human society for more than 100 years, because these are the crystallization of human wisdom.
Thanks to all filmmakers and all those who love to watch movies
