Heavy echo

(Participated in the preview of the company organized in the United States. After watching it, I felt very heavy, although it was a pretty good ending. But in the whole process, the inner struggle of the veterans was still sad)

This changed from a true story The film tells the story of how three people reintegrated into their normal lives after retiring from the Iraq War. It is also a microcosm of the real lives of countless veterans-how to get out of the shadows brought by the war, whether by evading, forgetting or talking . Life is right in front of me, so close and so far away.

The three comrades who came back unscathed, seemingly smooth, each took their way home. They all showed post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). The film uses constant conflicts and contradictions to highlight the psychological shadow of war/death to the veterans and the impact on their lives. The youngest veteran returned home, only to find that his wife had gone with her daughter. The next day I came to my wife’s place to work and questioned her, but got a negative answer, so he shot himself. This is in sharp contrast to the carnival of the three comrades-in-arms last night. And this also cast the shadow of suicide early on the whole film, making us fearful for the other two veterans throughout the whole process. xxx seems to have returned to life normally, and plans to have children with his wife, but still can't get rid of the shadows, always seeing images of dead comrades. From seeing a daze, to seeing anger. Finally, he approached the gang and tried to escape reality. The protagonist Adam has more conflicts. When I returned home, I wanted to reintegrate, but with a sense of distance. When he and his wife were watching the race on the racing track, the director showed the sense of distance between the two through the camera: the camera was directed at the face of the speaker, and the other person always appeared in the corner of the camera in the form of a blurred back. After that, more conflicts. From visions during sex with his wife to war, to visions during hunting, to almost committing suicide in the end. Let us squeeze a sweat for him. Every conflict has repeatedly increased the sense of urgency and crisis brought to us. Let our hearts be moved by the protagonists' every move.

But towards the end, the resolution of the conflict appeared too fast and sudden. Adam took the xxx who had escaped, and gave him his seat on the bus to the California clinic. At this time, the doctor over there told him that you can try to tell and share, so he went to find the wife of his comrades who died in the war, and told him about the death of his comrades. Finally got "forgiveness" and "liberation". The turning point here, what helped Adamu finally make up his mind to tell. It does not give us a very clear feeling.

However, in the end, the director told a very satisfactory story. Finally, the protagonist Adam drove back to the accommodation, got out of the car tiredly, opened the door and returned home. You know he came out, it was another difficult victory. We should be happy for him. But we are also really sad.

Saskia Schumann: Well, you're pretty fucking resourceful.
