Watching "Song of the Soldiers"

Hemingway believed that a good work does not need to convey all the feelings to the reader, the so-called "iceberg principle", one-eighth of the iceberg presented on the water surface is enough for the reader to realize the rest underwater. Seven-eighths deep. And the same is true of good movies. "Song of the Soldier" really made me feel the shock of the iceberg principle.
Whenever someone mentions war movies, I can't help but see the scene of "throwing heads and pouring blood", as if Alyosha in "Song of the Soldiers", as a soldier, must have a heroic hero before he dies. A scene, a long shot of a freeze, a mother weeping for him. Obviously, this movie has neither. It doesn't contain any scenes of Alyosha being killed in battle, nor does his mother show too much emotion. This kind of "moderation" with appropriate benefits is the genius of this film. It is good to express one's heart directly, but the appropriate blank is even more regrettable. What we can't deny is that it is too embarrassing when the mother is wearing black veils and standing on a long road, looking at a person who can never come back. Alyosha was destined not to be a "returner", but a "passer-by", a passer-by who stayed by his mother's side for just a few minutes and never returned. And who would have thought that this moment would be a goodbye?
Naturally, in addition to this, one or two can be seen from the title, "Song of the Soldier" is not "Song of the General". The movie starts with a very small character, neither about his bravery on the battlefield to kill the enemy, nor about his death when he sacrificed. It just seemed to tell the story of a soldier coming home from a vacation in a bland way. Paul Korchagin is lovely and respectable, but so is Alyosha. What a lad! He is simple, young, kind, and helpful. He fell in love with an equally beautiful girl on the way home. The relationship between him and his mother is so strong and simple. Of course, he also has a strong physique and a handsome face. , he bid farewell to his mother and went into the battlefield. Like everyone else, he believed that he would come back soon, repair the leaky roof for his mother, and find the girl he loved. We really love this 19-year-old young man more and more... But, he died. Mr. Lu Xun said that tragedy is to tear apart beautiful things for others to see. The more beautiful he is, the more distressed we are, indeed.
Sometimes a person's death can feel abrupt and unacceptable, as if he shouldn't have died. We often say something like this about a dead person: "How could he die so well?" The same applies to Alyosha, who deserves a great victory, spends his time with his mother and wife, and lives on from now on. Happy life, why did he die? That's why movies make us wonder, ponder, sadden, and finally ponder. What does war bring us? It is true that countless heroes have stood out through battle, but in the corners that heroes can't see, corners that we can't see, and corners that history can't see, how many people like Alyosha died in an instant. , turned into dust? Maybe he was a veteran guarding the city gate. The next day, he could finally disarm and return to the field. For the first time in his life, he had a sweet and stable dream, but he was dead in the dream; maybe he was one of the countless soldiers who rushed forward. One of them, he made up his mind to abandon his pen and join the army, but he slowly fell to the ground the moment he raised his gun. And these, no one will pay attention, even in a virtual TV movie, he is just an extra, a part of a huge background.
And the director just pulled the scene in and out, telling the story of a soldier in the vast crowd. He used to be a bright and lively young man, and later he became a loess in a certain battlefield. Are the so-called wars that politicians call really worth it? War transforms a soul into nothingness, separates flesh and blood, and makes love wither. This may be the reason for the rise of the "pacifism" trend. Sometimes, a good film does not need too many twists and turns of emotional entanglements, ups and downs of heroic deeds, and an ordinary action is enough to knock people's hearts. This really corresponds to the phrase "seems to be the most extraordinary". It's not sharp, it's not ironic, it's not bloody, it's not tragic, it's not twisted. On the contrary, its main part is gentle, positive, youthful, and beautiful. However, it is this kind of tenderness that brings us the most profound cruelty. This is also its charm. Even if it is read and appreciated by people after 50 years, it can still give you a gentle blow to your soul through time.
Or a brutal blow.

Compared with "Yan Nanfei" and "Ivan's Childhood", the story and language are simpler (of course, there is also moving beauty), and the ideology is also simpler. But doesn't this simple humanitarian hymn really need to be grilled by the party spirit?
