The true colors of the world

Jules Dassin’s noir film has a tight rhythm. It takes Harry the hotel pimp as the protagonist. It starts from its humble social role and the psychology of a greedy and speculative gambler. It ends with what appears to be a chance. Still lost his life. The characters in the film are full of images. Under the numerous close-up shots and the dark night and rushing perspective, what I want to express is not just the proposition that the male protagonist is self-sufficient. In an environment where only profit is a deceit, it is always the humble little person who is obliterated. Appear from the night, survive in the night, and disappear from the night.
