We can live well on our own

It's a no-holds-barred family film, with lines full of American light-hearted humour and plenty of soothing jazz that sounds great.

Dad Danny is an artist who became popular with the song "My One and Only". Mom Ann is an elegant and beautiful person. She pays attention to her manners at all times and maintains her manners no matter what happens. After she found out that her husband had an affair with the singer at home , took the child to start a journey of running around. They went first to Boston, then to Pittsburgh, then to the house of their feuding sister in St. Louis, and finally to Los Angeles, California.

Ann meets her former suitor, Wallace, in Boston, her business fails. The two stole her money while they ate, and then nearly married an uncaring macho, crazy stingy veteran. In Pittsburgh, she met Olicer, who was simply looking for a one-night stand. Later, he was thrown out of the car and met a former suitor who already had a young girl by his side. Later, he went to a bar because of loneliness and was arrested for soliciting customers. After searching all ex-boyfriends, he went to find his sister. Elus met a marriage maniac with mental problems, almost got married, and finally planned to go to California to fulfill his eldest son Robbie's acting dream.

Sad along the way. The moment he was pushed out of the car, the moment he called his ex-boyfriend when he was helpless, and the moment that his ex-boyfriend was flirting with his younger incumbent, when he was going to go to the house of his sister who was mean and jealous of him, he was sad. Yes, but it's still sunny. Without any discouragement, she lived out the style that a delicate woman should have. Renee Zellweger made the role of Ann come alive. She was bright, elegant, tenacious, and decisive. She showed us the demeanor of George's mother in life. She was neat and taught her children not to look in the rearview mirror. She was decisive. Strong communication skills, always give children hope.

From a failed mother, Ann couldn't even tell what shoes her son wears, what color he likes, or what book he likes (even his aunt who doesn't live with him can tell), and in the end, he is still brilliant, but he has changed the focus of his life. Find your husband again and enjoy the joy of family.

I think such a mother is still worthy of her children's pride. When she was down, she was still elegant and calm, wearing a Xiaoxiangfeng skirt to go to an appointment. Even when she was the most downcast to pawn jewelry, she wore a beautiful yellow cardigan, a floral shirt, and a lavender skirt, which was still warm and friendly.

After encountering an unkind person, Ann began to work to make money, from a cafe waiter to a decoration salesman to a Hollywood extra. When her husband found Ann in Los Angeles, she said, "I don't know if I love you, but I'm sure, I don't." You are no longer needed. When I am very down, I still have the confidence that "you are not even half as good as me". Resolutely not to look back, she told her husband that the matter had come to an end and could not be changed. Just like the famous saying of breaking up in our country: we can't go back.

There are also warm episodes along the way. For example, when BUD in Pittsburgh went to the police station to pick Ann home, he said: You don't need to explain anything to me, what you need now is to go home. A solitary gentleman. Ann was moved to tears.

their dreams. George wants to be a writer, because of the praise of his teachers in St. Louis, he would rather live with his aunt; Robbie likes to act, and goes all the way; Ann wants to find a good husband to support herself and her sons, but in the end, she changes her life focus and pursues like clouds Just don't need a husband anymore.

In the end, they both naturally had the best home for each other. The younger son became an actor in Hollywood (this story is based on George's personal experience), and the mother no longer needed her husband, but she and her sons bathed in the sunshine in Los Angeles. The next life together is very good, and my brother is relieved to do other work. Everyone usually lives in harmony with Meimei.

Because of the experience of wandering around, they all grew up. George's final narration, tells the true meaning of the film (how precious in this 1950s):

I always think back to the journey of wandering around,
we are always looking for someone to take refuge and rely on
and finally find In fact, there is no need
for us to live a good life on our own,
but thank you very much.

My One and Only quotes

  • Bill Massey: As a man, there's only one thing you need to know about a woman.

    George Devereaux: What's that?

Bill Massey: They're never the right temperature.

    George Devereaux: No?

Bill Massey: Something to do with their plumbing. Reproduction. Whatever reason, most of the time... they're either too hot or too cold. Mostly too cold. So what you have to do... is carry a sweater or a jacket or something with you at all times. Something you can keep in the trunk of your car... or in your closet at work... for when their thermostat gets messed up.

    George Devereaux: What else?

Bill Massey: That's it. Once you've got that covered... there's nothing else you need to know about a woman.

  • Paula: Have you ever seen breasts?

    George Devereaux: Sure... one.

    Paula: You saw one breast?

George Devereaux: No, I meant once. I saw some once.

    Paula: Some?

George Devereaux: Two. I saw two, once...

    Paula: You wanna see mine?

    George Devereaux: Who? Me? Now?

    Paula: Ready?

    George Devereaux: Okay. Sure, yeah.

    Paula: How do they look?

George Devereaux: Alright! Good, fine. Of course I don't have much to compare them to...
