The masterpiece of a genius writer

The filming is still very soul-stirring, after all, the dramatic tension and full emotion of the original work are there. But the shortcomings are also obvious. In the original book, I remember that there are many descriptions of the surrounding environment of Wuthering Heights to set off the turbulent emotional development. The heroine's looks and acting skills are indescribable, she seems to be a little dull all the time, and her eyes are not dramatic enough. The feelings of the next generation towards the older generation are also not clear.

I read this story when I was in elementary school, and I just remember that the protagonists in the story, accompanied by the howling wind, came to life with love. It's a pity I didn't know love or hate at the time. Watching the movie now, I suddenly remember all the plots, understand love and hate, understand revenge, feel entanglement and sadomasochism, and the obsession and resentment that can’t be seen. When the original Emily Bronte was written at the end of the film, I really felt the so-called genius writer. Who would have imagined that this is a daughter who died young and had no experience in marriage and love, and wrote such an intricate, passionate and full of emotions. Breathtaking work.

Wuthering Heights quotes

  • Heathcliff: I would die a thousand deaths if I knew she were waiting for me!

  • Cathy: Why are you refusing to see me?

Heathcliff: Cause I don't know you. Hindley's right, that little savage is lost and it was her that I loved.

Cathy: I know you. And I love you.

Heathcliff: In the way a mistress loves a servant?

    Cathy: No.

Heathcliff: Come away with me then, as we planned. There.

    [points to her face]

Heathcliff: It's your pause that betrays you.

    Cathy: I'm frightened.

Heathcliff: Of what? Of me? Or poverty?

Cathy: You're asking me to risk my reputation. Once a woman's reputation is gone she has nothing.

Heathcliff: [incredulous] The old Cathy would never have said such a thing.

Cathy: The old Cathy didn't know the world and how it regarded...

Heathcliff: [grabs Cathy, interrupting her] I tried to leave you. Your love holds me here. Now if you mean to be indifferent to me as least do me the favor of releasing me.
