Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Keywords: Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, World War II, Normandy

This movie was shot by Spielberg in 1998. At that time, I had vaguely started to know this director of Jewish origin. Later, after listening to a tape of a classmate’s Oscar, I was a big fan of the violin songs on the Schindler’s list, so I went to the school’s audiovisual room to specifically call it. Although this movie was really long and not very clear at the time, it still had an inexplicable admiration for him. But I didn't watch this movie until 2001.

It was a sultry evening in May, and it was still an unclear version of the rm format on my computer. But I still remember the shocking sensation in the first half hour of that movie when I was stunned and sweaty, my palms squeezed, my eyes were scared, but I was reluctant to move my eyes or even blink. This is the first time I have seen such a bloody and shocking war scene so directly. Spielberg showed us the real cruel side of war almost without modification and avoidance. Those who instilled in our heads the concept of hero victory and even effortless victory were shattered in a flash. When we saw Allied soldiers walking on the beach in a daze looking for their broken arm, when we looked at the young head in the screen, we were hit by bullets and flew around, even as if to fly out of the screen and land on me. At the time, we all instinctively want to avoid all this. Huang Qiusheng once said that if you dare not watch a movie, then this movie is a good movie because it has touched your heart. So the half-hour of that evening is forever imprinted in my memory.

Behind the blue sky of the golden farms in Iowa is the verdant and green rural scenery of the French countryside. The scenery is so breathtaking that people almost forget the war. A small team was ordered to sneak into the enemy's back to find James Ryan and send him home to soothe his mother's hurt heart. I think this task first reflects the American romantic feelings and even the whimsical style. Of course, there will be differences within the team. They curse this task and think it is a bull shit, and think it is a waste of the military’s precious property or think Whether it’s worthwhile for eight people to change one’s life, after all, everyone has a mother who is eager to see his son.

Lieutenant John Miller is undoubtedly the protagonist, but he is far away from the traditional heroes who fight for justice for the sake of mankind. They are living people in war, and they are also afraid of war and death and want to escape danger. They are not Huang Jiguang or Dong Cunrui. They are eager to be able or go back to enjoy a peaceful life just like the people living around us. So John Miller will firmly accept this task and insist on completing him, because he already feels that he has been quietly changed in order to survive the war. He was afraid of this change. He just wanted to go back to his hometown and stay with his wife, so he insisted. If he finds Ryan and takes him home to be one step closer to his wife, then he will complete the task.

Reminiscent of the bridges in the brotherhood, I always feel that Americans are never ashamed to say that they are afraid of death. In their view, life is above all else, but at the same time they are also proud of their country and willing to sacrifice everything for the country. . Do you still remember how Kandy sent Kandy in the Brothers Company angered the recruit O'Keeffe who wanted to airdrop Berlin? They don't care about honor or heroes, they just want to live, they are also ordinary people. To explore human nature and add warmth in the war is precisely the characteristic of this movie that moves people.

Let our heroes live like normal people, they are too tired.

Regarding this movie, I will always remember three detailed pictures:

1. There are raging winds all around. When the landing craft’s deck door opens, the enemy’s bullets are fired madly, so countless people have not tasted the war. The taste is gone. I believe that they already know their destiny, and I admire their courage to charge with determination.

2. When a car came slowly in the distance on the golden Iowa farm, Ryan's mother slowly raised her head and watched the approaching car. She hobbled to the door and saw After a priest got out of the car, he could no longer stand and fell on the porch.

There was silence, no lines, and the camera slowly watched the mother's back sobbing from behind. She burst into tears.

3. When Capasso held up the suicide note in his hand in the rain and didn't want it to be stained with his own blood, you would always feel his worry and concern for his parents on the far side of the ocean. He didn't even want his parents to be sad because they saw the blood on his suicide note.

Saving private ryan was born at an untimely time and lost to Shakespeare in Love. But I still think this is Oscar's mistake, which can never be remedied. Because this movie will be irreplaceable in war movies.

Those nearly line-drawing depictions of the battle are real and shocking; Lieutenant Miller’s involuntary shaking hands are a portrayal of every soldier who was unable to control his own destiny like a chess piece at that time; the discussion of humanity and ethics on a higher level has actually been It doesn't matter.

I saw a movie many years ago, and the biggest feeling is the truth, and I can even feel the horror of death
