Completely faithful to the original re-creation

Like most TV shows, each episode will have a segment from the previous episode as the opening remarks. But what about the first episode? It was made out of thin air, and it played a scene where the new leadership of the "circus" had a meeting. A group of old opera bones gathered together, not speaking entirely based on body language gestures, which perfectly matched my imagination of each of their roles. It's a perfect starter!

The defect of this D version is in the Chinese subtitles. Translating "Circus (British Military Intelligence Division 5, MI5)" into "Seks" and "Control" into "Ken Choao", grammatical errors abound. But what can we ask of them? Turn Jim Prideaux into "Pei Jiemin"? We are thankful for the D version vendor to select such an old British TV series!

It's the first time I want to give it four and a half stars. . . It's boring at first, but it's completely fascinating when you really see it.

Elegant and plain, sombre and decadent. The rhythm is gentle but not dull, and the plot is gripping but not terrifying. The acting skills are all excellent, and even the supporting roles who appear for a minute or two are so well performed. Watching this level of espionage skit is a real treat.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy quotes

  • Roy Bland: It isn't ordinary flight information, Peter. The source is very private.

Toby Esterhase: Ultra, ultra sensitive in fact.

Peter Guillam: In that case, Toby, I'll try and keep my mouth ultra, ultra shut.

    [Bill Haydon chuckles]

  • George Smiley: You heard something about his

    [Peter's]

George Smiley: murderous assignment in French North Africa, I suppose?

    Mendel: Something. Whispers...

George Smiley: Peter was overmatched and he lost. His agents were hanged. No one recovers entirely from that sort of thing. That is, I wouldn't trust a man who did.
