Grade A

I think it is a psychological thriller, in a way it makes me nervous and focused more than a real horror film.

The movie has a sense of future science fiction. The cultivation room full of flowers urged to diffuse pollen in purple tones. A group of researchers in white coats walked back and forth between the incubation room and outside, moving in a strict trajectory. The movie builds a sense of space in between.

I think it is about the future and about human emotions. I use a light science fiction story to try to create a kind of instability, explore the unknown, and explore the void of human emotions. A bit like robots replacing humans, the story is based on a hypothesis that a new species of plants (Little Joe) cultivated by humans has its own thoughts and in turn tries to manipulate humans. Things and changes were unpredictable but unfolded slowly as expected.

The soundtrack is really scary, a bit of a Japanese style in the 1950s. There is a piece of music made of wind chimes or something that often appears first, which is the rustling whispers among the plants. The drumbeat really scares people.

I think there are still some problems in the overall play, it affects the director's expression is not so concise.

As for the new Cannes film queen, I think her performance is still very suitable for the style of this movie, with the cautiousness and insensitiveness of perception, she also interprets new possibilities in the exploration. The movie itself did not give her much performance space.

I think it might be better to change the direction at the end.
