This is the story of a rookie lawyer seeking a hammer.
The respected business man was shot and his body was further destroyed after his death. The suspect walked out of the murder scene with blood stains and weapons, and accepted the arrest without resistance. To paraphrase a line from a hot-blooded boy comic, the suspect named Corinne "is full of flaws."
The rookie lawyer Casper was assigned to Colinni to defend, but the defendant refused to say a word. What's more troublesome is that the deceased Hans Meyer was Caspar's benefactor. As a descendant of Turkish immigrants, Kasper grew up in Meyer's family. He gained his lost father's love from this old man. Meyer's granddaughter, Joanna, was also Casper's admiration when she was a teenager.
Now Joanna is married and married to another woman. Her husband is Baron Zemo who has competed with Thor on the racing circuit for many years. However, the identity of the wife does not prevent her from resuming the relationship with Casper. What's wrong with lawyers liking married women! Rather, for him, a rising star in the legal world, it is precisely because of his unethical love that he is even more embarrassed.
Meyer died unexpectedly, and Joanna returned to her hometown to inherit the family business and bereavement for her grandfather. In the meantime, she tried to get Casper to give up defending Meyer's murderer, Corinne, by doing both soft and hard. However, Casper always felt that there was something hidden behind the case. With his unremitting efforts, finally... the murder of Corinne was confirmed. But his most important discovery is to uncover the experience of the deceased Meyer that he did not want to be mentioned more than half a century ago, and Corinne's motivation to execute Meyer personally at the expense of his own life.
This film is based on real history. The audience’s expectation in the first half of the movie is mainly to wonder how an iron case can be reversed in the hands of a rookie lawyer. After seeing it, they understand that the point of the story is not to reverse the case of a suspected murderer. It is to uncover the scars caused by the war to the country and a disgraceful past in the history of the German legal system.
When I was young, I liked watching a cartoon called "Hetalia". The anthropomorphic Italy and Germany are very loving CPs. Germany is not so much protecting Italy as it is directly sending troops to occupy it. The German soldiers became the lofty Dragons in Italy. They were obviously allies, but the Italians wanted to look at the Germans' faces everywhere. Therefore, the bloody and dignified people of the Italian people will inevitably make resistance actions from time to time. Two abstract countries may be able to make a sloppy relationship, but when it comes to living citizens, the relationship between each other is much more complicated.
Didn't the Nazi soldiers know that they were annoying? Corinne in this film is like Ma Dasan, a survivor of the Guajiatai Massacre, embarking on the path of using violence to control violence. The difference is that before embarking on this road of no return, Corinne tried to take proper legal channels to get justice. Regrettably, the German law did not give him justice. His father was killed directly in the war, and his other relatives after the war, because of the German law for sheltering the executioner, hated for life and died in depression one after another.

In the film, Meyer calmly kneels on the ground to accept execution before dying, giving the impression that he has a heart to confess. Some viewers may have a little sympathy for him because of this. But the background of the film is the beginning of the 21st century. With the technology at the time, even if an 80-something old man survived this bloody disaster, he would not have much time. So this is a dying old war criminal who has made a favor of the blood creditor. A big boss who has been in the market for decades, probably after some calculations, thinks that this wave is not a loss, so he gave away the head.
Before the crimes of his youth were revealed, Meyer left the audience and other characters in the story with a kind and kind elder for most of the time. This reminds me of the old Japanese devil Yashida in "Wolverine 2". After the war, he became a social elite who made outstanding contributions to the economic recovery of the post-war country and accumulated a lot of wealth as a result. As he died, he asked Wolverine to come to Japan for a talk. You think he is nostalgic, but in fact, he is a greedy person, and he sacrifices his son and granddaughter as bait to steal Wolverine's self-healing ability to continue his life.
If Hans Meyer also knew that there was some way in the world that could make him immortal, would he still go to death calmly when facing Corinne's gun? I think he will most likely change back to the hideous face he once wore the skin of a Nazi officer, and he will deal with this avenging son without mercy as he treated Corinne's father. And if he really achieves immortality, he will probably become like Saburo Arasaka in "Cyberpunk 2077", continue to expand his business empire, and destroy it in more subtle ways than Hitler and Hideki Tojo a few years later. This world cripples and enslaves the world.
The current international order is based on the victory of the world's anti-fascist war. As the defeated countries of that war, Germany and Japan should be like bereaved dogs. Even if ordinary citizens can be pardoned, those war criminals with blood on their hands should pay the price. But after World War II, the Cold War followed. Those war criminals have become people who can be used, because since they can have an active performance during the war, it means that their execution ability is super strong. Those who are good at germ warfare were hired by ambitious world overlords to continue to play their strengths and secretly develop biological and chemical weapons. Those who are good at leading soldiers in wars are temporarily out of use, or don't want to return to their old business for a while, let them apply the fierce and decisive power of life and death to the market, and become the so-called "pillars of post-war economic revival." Moral losers, because of their economic, military, scientific and other aspects of use value, can continue to parasitize the new world that should have been clean and pure after the baptism of World War II, and continue to spread legacy. They have been parasitic for a long time, and as vested interests, they have enough ability to kidnap the whole country and the whole world, so the country has to formulate special laws to prevent them from being liquidated.
Such an approach may seem tolerant, but in reality it is cowardly. The unresolved is not because I have figured it out, let go, or forgiven, but because of helplessness, because the objects of the liquidation control the lifeline of the country's economy. And relying on these people to build a new world is not a useful attempt to turn waste into treasure and transform sinners into social pillars. It is actually drinking poison to quench thirst.
