Journey of Hope-Black Floor

Let me talk about some one-sided understanding of this movie. When I saw them walk out of the empty floor behind the elevator, I immediately thought of the empty town in "Silent Hill", because I am a loyal fan of Silent Hill 2 (game), so I like it very much. I came into contact with something similar to this style, but when I saw the clock on the aisle on the floor (6th floor) they walked in, I changed my opinion. This movie is not Silent Hill TOO, but Very meaningful. In order to test my hypothesis, I rewind the movie and watch it again.
The thunderous night, the bustling city is suffocating cold in the thunderstorm all night. When the father (BEN) pushed his daughter (SARAH) out of the ward, the clock on the wall was faintly pointing to 6:50 (the picture was too blurry, and after zooming in, I was sure it was before 6:55). The father pushed the car, talked to the nurse in charge of the daughter (EMILY), and walked towards the elevator. The people around were busy with their own affairs, and no one watched them (note the contrast between this detail and the ending credit, I will explain it later). When they came to the elevator, there was already a man reporting the bear (JOHNS) standing inside. Behind them, the hospital security (RICK) pulled an elderly man (TOBIAS) with an abnormal mental state and walked in. At this time, the elevator The door is closed, and the core part of the movie begins.
People who have played Silent Hill 2 will easily associate this movie with atonement, but I don't understand it that way. I think this is a process of ideological struggle in the mind of the little girl SARAH. In the previous paragraph, it was said that the time they entered the front of the elevator was 6:50, and when they exited the elevator, it was 6:55. It was 6:55 when they finally reached B1 (before the hands of the watch moved). This shows that the time did not stop before they entered the elevator, and this "elevator" was actually an entrance leading to the inner entrance of the little girl. The inner world of the little girl is such a place occupied by fear and pain.
The little girl (SARAH) has been sick for a long time. Although she is loved and cared by her father, she is inevitably cold-eyed and bullied by others in this world. The four people in the elevator, except the girl and her father, symbolize real life. The four groups in SARAH are widespread in society. They surround SARAH and have an inevitable impact on her inner world.
Let me first talk about my understanding of the bear-cuddling man JOHNS. He was the first person to appear in the elevator. At the beginning, I was very confused about the teddy bears he was holding. Why were they all wrapped in bandages? Later, when BEN entered the white space, the teddy bear poster at the door of that ward made me figure out this problem. JOHNS represents the most common people in this society. Although it is difficult for me to find a modifier for this kind of people, for girls, this kind of people are "ordinary strangers". They have their own stories, their own worries and burdens, and the bandage bear symbolizes these burdens. These burdens can be poorly run companies, hard-to-shirk responsibilities, or even sick relatives. People have their own sense of responsibility and ethics, so they will not forget the good and meaning that these things have brought to themselves, so they have been holding these bandages and the burden of being in disease. But when such people are in danger, they will lose these burdens without hesitation, just as JOHNS threw these teddy bears down the stairs and escaped. Such people tend to take a dismissive attitude towards the suffering of strangers. In times of crisis, if they are not close relatives, I am afraid that they will not pay attention. But we cannot condemn such people, because this bad character is universally present in this world, more or less distributed in each of us. This kind of behavior is selfish, and the most thought of at any time is oneself. And the sentence "a littile love, a little hope" on the teddy bear poster in front of some wards after the movie illustrates these poor burdens, which were once the wealth we were proud of. When they are in trouble, we need us. Give a little love, so that there is a little warmth and a little hope. When a girl suffers from illness, few people can give her love and hope except her father.
The old man TOBIAS has some mental problems. He always feels cold. At the beginning of the movie, he walked to the girl's side. It seemed that he gave the girl a breath of air-conditioning, and the girl yelled "i want the red crayon" again. This old man should symbolize another type of people in real life. They may not care about their own interests, but face the world with a drunken mentality. They think the world is unfair, dark and ugly. Yes, I am deeply immersed in my misfortune and pain and cannot extricate myself. They are not even afraid of death. They only see the dark side of the world. After being tired of everything, they even think that only death can truly sleep peacefully and no longer be cold. But is this really the case? Death is not the end. If you can’t observe the outside world from a positive perspective, then no matter what kind of things can only show the dark side in his eyes; if you can’t face life with an optimistic attitude, then no matter what What kind of place will be the most painful hell. Only when they finally face their problems and solve them can they discover the beauty of the world and feel the real warmth.

Nurse EMILY and security RICK may be a type of people who often appeared in SARAH's life in the past. The long-term pain is that SARAH often interacts with hospitals. Doctors and nurses are the most contacted. EMILY is a symbol of these medical staff. SARAH hates illness, and the long-term illness makes her dislike hospitals and nurses. She just wants to go home. This is how the resistance to medical staff was born. The RICK symbolizes a powerful group of people in life. They are usually the leaders of a large or small group, or they have absolute command rights in a certain period of time. For example, the kids who play with SARAH are more powerful. Such people are also disgusted by SARAH. But with the development of the plot, their various behaviors in the inner space of SARAH have eliminated this disgust invisibly. When DICK sacrifices to protect everyone, SARAH feels that strength is often accompanied by responsibility, and there are many people in this category who have a strong sense of responsibility. When EMILY was scratched on his leg and asked BEN to take SARAH to go first, SARAH realized that medical staff are not just working. Many of them really treat patients as relatives and treat them with sincerity. The dark inner world of SARAH's past has gradually shattered as the movie progressed. The "death" of people here is not death, but "removal" from the dark inner world of SARAH. When everyone disappears, her inner world will completely change.
As for those monsters, I think it is the dark side of the human nature they represent. There are 5 monsters in total. The monster biting JOHNS’s feet in the elevator is his own demon. The type of person he represents is selfish and will discard all baggage in times of crisis, and because of selfishness, he will try everything when he is desperate. Ways become a burden to others, and hope that others will not abandon themselves. It seems to me that the monster biting JOHNS’s foot is actually hoping that he stays in the elevator. This is not a contradiction. Once others don’t abandon them, they will of course take their own interests first and want to murder others when there is a crisis again.
The monster that appeared after smashing the wall symbolized the dark side of the security guards (the powerful crowd), and their absolute rights made them inseparable from violence. And this kind of violence is not only hated by SARAH, but also makes her deeply afraid, so she will have a scared expression before this monster comes out.
The monster shouting symbolizes EMILY. I don't know if you have noticed it. The monster appeared on the door glass at the beginning, which corresponds to the face on the door glass when EMILY was trapped inside the house in the B1 morgue. The monster screamed loudly. But he didn't cause any harm to anyone outside EMILY, but in the end he scratched EMILY himself. I think this is determined by EMILY’s character. There is no doubt that she is a very kind person, precisely because she is such a person, when she encounters problems (such as a failed marriage, such as a dying patient), he will Blame yourself first. And this sense of responsibility made her subconsciously apologize to others, especially those patients who were unable to rescue them and died. After all, this world is not perfect, and such great goodness can only cause harm to oneself.
The sand man symbolizes TOBIAS, which is the crux of the heart death of the "living dead" represented by TOBIAS. The little things and encounters in life made them tired of the world eventually. These things were scattered like sand and unremembered, but dripping through the rocks changed people's mood and caused huge chain damage in the end.
The last demon symbolizes SARAH himself. Because this dark space is actually SARAH's dark and painful inner world for a long time. That's why she is the master of this world. This is why she has a bitter look at the incarnations (monsters) of those things she hates, which can make the monsters retreat. At the beginning of the movie, although SARAH kept saying that he wanted red crayons, his paintings were all outlined by black crayons, and he painted everything in black that was hard to distinguish. It's like the last demon king waved his hand, a piece of black rushed out and corroded and swallowed what he touched. Before entering the elevator, SARAH always said "I want a red crayon" when he met TOBIAS in the machine. The red color is eliminated and eliminated. When he encounters those things that he hates, he wants to eliminate them. But she actually understands that this world cannot satisfy everyone or even everyone completely. Because no matter what has two sides, it is impossible to really eliminate the bad side. Only by changing yourself, changing your mood, and changing your dark inner world in the past can you brighten your world. So when she holds the red crayon in hand, when she draws a circle in a counterclockwise direction, she actually walks counterclockwise, bringing the avatars of the people around her back to her dark inner world in the past, and finding people in each of them. Take the bright side of your body and accept them eventually, and look more at the bright side in the days to come, so that you can truly change your world. These people either defeated their own dark side, or were killed by their own dark side. Anyway, the dark inner world that SARAH past has disappeared. In the last part, his father BEN put SARAH outside the car. He thought that as long as the demon king was killed, everything would end, the world would return to normal, and someone would naturally find parking. The little girl in the field took him away. When he drove the car towards the devil with a mortal heart, the bright side of SARAH's heart appeared. She said to her dark side: "Now you know, the light is It shouldn't exist in the dark". After this, the dark inner world of her past no longer exists. And a bright world is about to be born.
At the end of the film, SARAH uses the color opposite to the elimination of red---when the blue crayon draws a circle clockwise, a bright inner world has already laid the foundation. TOBIAS came again and told him that he didn't feel cold anymore. Yes, many of these people will suddenly realize at some point that they shouldn't live that way. And when his father pushed him along the corridor of the hospital, many people around the crowd also looked at them with caring eyes, which corresponded to the fact that they were walking in the corridor unattended at the beginning of the film. I believe that in the near future, SARAH will gradually recover from her illness, and she will face a new world full of light, love and hope with an optimistic and positive attitude!
